Chapter 18

Salia's point of view. This chapter will give info on the Inner Demon bit.

I woke up and could feel something different. Like something was in me trying to get out. I could hear the faintest whispers of a voice in my mind that kept muttering. I couldn't understand it but knew it was a female. The more I concentrated on it the more a few words came into focuse. 'Kepta. Lupin. Kyta'  I repeated these words out loud as Lux started to wake up

"Why are you saying those words?" he asked as he straightened up.

"I don't know really. I keep hearing this voice in my head say them. She's saying other stuff but I can't understand her" I told him perplexed at the new sensation. "Can we get something to eat ? I'm starving for some reason. And I feel really hot, like I'm burning up or something." I said as I slipped out of bed and hurried downstairs. Lux followed but stopped in shock as I filled my plate more than usual. "What? I said I'm starving. I feel like my stomach is rubbing against my spine and I haven't ate in days" I laugh.

"After you eat we need to find your parents and talk about something." Lux told me as he grabbed his plate and began filling it.

Thankfully we were able to eat without Giyla interrupting us. As we finished mom came in. "Mrs. Winthrop? We need to talk to you and your husband...privately please." Lux requested as she poured her coffee.

"C'mon. We're in his office already." she said as she turned to walk away. I meanwhile just stood there baffled at what was going on. I followed, curious as to what they were talking about.

When we got to the office Lux closed and locked the door behind us. "I think it's time to tell Salia of her heritage. She's showing all the signs. A voice in her head, feeling like she's burning up, ravenously hungry." he explained to my parents. They nodded and he turned to me.

"Salia. Have you ever realized that no one in My family ever gets sick? Or if we break a bone we heal extraordinarily fast? How my eyes turn black sometimes?  Its because we have what's called an Inner Demon.  Your parents are both half human. Meaning they carry the genomes for an Inner Demon.  You have one and it's waking up." he explained calmly.

"Hold up! Do what?! What does that mean?!? I'm not human? Will I turn into a creature or something??" I freaked out.

"No. It means you will be immune to every disease on earth, including this one. I was bitten with no side effects. Your parents have some benefits. They will not catch any cold or flue. Only a strong disease can hurt them. You and I along with my family will live longer than the average person. No weapons can harm us. Only one with a demon or age itself can kill us. Each of us has a Kepta, or SoulMate as the normal person would say. Our demon has their own name. Mine is Lupin. When our demon starts to take over our body our eyes will darken till they're completely black. When our eyes have completely blackened, even the whites, our demon has taken over and is about to reveal themselves. The voice you've been hearing is yours and apparently her name is Kyta." he told me as he sat next to me. "I will teach you how to control her and use her to your benefit."

I sat there in awed silence as I took in all he told me.'I'm glad you've finally learned of me my friend. Now I can speak to you, and you to me. Yes, my name is Kyta.' the voice happily called out in my head. I jumped and looked around.

"Y'all can't hear that? I just heard her. She introduced herself and everything" I told them in surprise. I listened for her again.

'If you wish to speak to me just think your words and I will hear them. We share the same mind now.' she practically cheered.

A/N: The demons words will now be in Italics and the person's in regular print to help tell the differences. 

'Like this you mean?' I thought

'Yes! Exactly!' I could practically hear a grin in her voice and couldn't help but smile some myself. I looked up at my parents and Lux.

"Sorry, we were getting acquainted. She's very excited to finally meet me." I chuckled

"Lupin was the same way when we first met. At some time we will have to let them meet each other." Lux told me as he began to smile.

"How can we do that? And when?" I asked eagerly. Lux laughed.

"Calm down. You need to get fully acquainted with her first and learn how to control her before we can allow them to meet. Otherwise it could get a bit messy." he told me lovingly.

I frowned slightly 'He's right. You and I need to learn each other first so we won't harm one another' Kyta's voice echoed in my head. I nodded agreeing with her and realized she probably couldn't tell that I was.

'Ok, we'll do it your way.' I told her. I heard her purring in happiness at my agreement. I turned to Lux. "So? Start teaching me how to control her and stuff." I told him. "I'm ready. Lets do this!"

"You're taking this remarkably well, are you sure you're ok?" Lux asked cautiously. "I mean you did just learn about all this today."

"I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" I chirped happily with a grin. "But I am hungry again. Is that normal? I mean starving. Plus I still feel burning hot." I said, a bit upset at the fact.

"It's perfectly normal. Your metabolism is much higher because of Kyta. Also your body temperature is high from her. Tell her it's to hot and she can lower it. Later you'll learn how to raise and lower your own temperature and more." Lux said.

'Hey Kyta? Can you lower our temp a bit? Its a little unbearable to be honest' I begged. Almost immediately I felt my temperature return to normal and gave a sigh of relief.

'Sorry, I'm new to having a human so I didn't know that was to hot. I apologize.'  She said mournfully

'Its ok. I'm new to this too.' I told her gently

"Lets go get you fed. You need to eat lots more now. But no worries. Kyta will help put away those calories and you won't gain any weight." Lux lead me out of the office and towards the kitchen.
