Tangled In The Great Escape

Chapter 9

Mikayla ran over to Mollie untying one hand and Tony ran to the other side of Mollie and untied the other hand. I followed them and kneeled by Mollie carefully pulling the duct tape off her mouth. Her beautiful blue eyes fluttered open.

“Mike, call an ambulance right now!” I screamed. I looked at him and he was standing there in shock. He seemed like he couldn’t move. His eyes were locked on the scene and he couldn’t pull away from it.

“Mike what are you doing?! Hurry!” I demanded.  He closed his eyes tightly and then opened them again pulling out his phone. He typed in the number 911 and put the phone up to his ear. His hand was shaking the whole time but he managed. I turned back to Mollie who was still staring at me.

“Mollie, baby, you need to keep your eyes on me okay? You are going to get through this and you will live and we will live a happy life together okay? I’m not letting you go. I promise. Just hang on. Please… Just hang on…” My voice was shaky but my eyes were locked on Mollies which kept me going. I have to be strong for her. She needs me right now.

“I have to go find this bitch. No one will ever do this to my friend.” Mikayla stood up. Tear lines were down her face but she had an angry expression.

“Mikayla no, you are already in a bad condition we don’t need you being in worse.” Tony protested. Mikayla was raging with anger and there is nothing we could say to stop her. I think Tony knew that too but it was worth a shot trying.

“I’m sorry Tony but I have to do this. If she somehow kills me then fine, I would take a bullet for Mollie.” Mikayla replied strictly. Tony didn’t say anything anymore and he backed away. Mikayla stormed out of the room with her fists clenched.

I heard sirens in coming closer in the background. Thank god. I scooped Mollie in my arms and ran out the door meeting the ambulance in the front yard. They took her from me and put her on a stretcher and strapped down her arms and legs. I saw her wince at the touch of the belts hitting her cuts and bruises. A paramedic walked up to me with a clipboard in his hand.

“Hello sir, are you with this young lady?” He asked. My eyes were fixed on Mollie and I couldn’t get a word out. Jaime ran up and softly pushed me out of the way.

“Yes we are with her.” I walked away and let Jaime take care of it. I looked up to see Mikayla struggling to get outside. She was limping and she looked like she was in a lot of pain. Then I saw blood dripping everywhere. Blood was pouring down her face coming from her head. She only got half way out of the house before she fell on the ground.

“Mikayla!” I screamed and ran towards her. Jaime, Mike, and Tony looked up from what they were doing and ran over beside me to help her. I kneeled down by her quickly looking for where the bleeding was coming from. I saw a gash on the side of her head bleeding rapidly.

“That bitch and her friends left. They are gone.” She hissed through her teeth.

“Mikayla I don’t care about that right now tell me what happened!” I responded. I felt my blood get hot and my heart started beating fast. I don’t even have words for how angry she’s making me and she won’t stop and there’s not really anything I can do about it. My thoughts were interrupted by another paramedic running up to Mikayla.

“We need to get you to the hospital quickly!” The paramedic demanded. He pulled out his phone and called for another ambulance to come. The other paramedic finished putting Mollie into the ambulance and came to ask if I was going with.  

“Uh… yes.” I replied. He nodded and pointed towards the ambulance.

“I will meet you guys at the hospital okay? I have to go with Mollie, she needs someone there.” They all nodded and I climbed into the back on next to Mollie.

“Wait! Vic I’ll go with you.” Mike said before climbing into the back with me on the other side of Mollie. We were rushed to the hospital and when we got there they quickly led Mollie out of the ambulance and into the hospital rushing her into another room. When we got inside, they made us stay in the waiting room. I threw myself into a hospital chair staring at the door waiting for them to pull Mikayla in too. Mike sat next to me and put his head in his hands.

“I can’t believe this is happening to us…” He mumbled. I sighed, how did this happen to us? I feel like this is all my fault. I saved Mollie and then I just had to invite her into the bus with us. She wouldn’t be in this mess if it wasn’t for me. She just seemed so different and I don’t know what came over me… She is just so perfect… I couldn’t get my mind off her…

A few minutes later they rushed in Mikayla. I quickly stood up and ran over. Jaime and Tony were running behind the stretcher. She was bleeding really bad and her face was extremely pail.

“We need help over here! Quickly! She needs immediate help!” Paramedics screamed left and right and they were running all around trying to help Mikayla. “Were losing her!” One of them screamed. My heart was beating so fast but all I could do was stand there. They ran her down the hallway and she disappeared into a room. Tony tried to follow but they held him back. He tried struggling and getting through them but the security guards held him back. Eventually he gave up and stormed over to the waiting room.  

We all sat down trying to process what was going on. None of us was in the mood to do anything else. We all sat there in silence. Tony had silent tears rolling down his face. I realized I was crying too and quickly wiped away the tears. I had to stay strong for Mollie and Mikayla… I know they wouldn’t want me to cry. Although Jaime was in as much pain as we all were he spoke up.

“Hey Vic, it’s going to be okay.” He said putting his hand on my shoulder. I just nodded and brushed him off. I wasn’t exactly in the mood to be comforted. I was boiling with anger because of Ash but also filled with sympathy for Mollie and Mikayla.  

I sighed and leaned my head back closing my eyes. I couldn’t take any more of this… or else I would start crying again… Eventually, I drifted off to sleep.

I was woken up by someone shaking my shoulder. I snapped my eyes open and saw Tony standing over me. His eyes were swollen and red… I could tell he’s been crying for a while.

“It’s Mollie…”
