She Sings In The Morning

Chapter 14

I woke up to someone violently shaking my arm. My eyes snapped open and I tried pushing the person off. My vision became clearer and the figure started to become more defined. I realized it was Vic and I sat up really quickly throwing my arms around his neck. He gave me a quick hug and when we pulled away he had a scared expression on his face. He has tears rolling down his face and his eyes were really red.

“Vic what’s wrong?! What happened?” I started to become more worried and I sunk back into my bed.

“No baby, this isn’t about you I promise! I heard the cops say that needed to see Victor Fuentes and so I got up and ran. I don’t know why I wouldn’t just confront the police. I just made myself look more suspicious now and I just left you. I’m sorry I didn’t know if they searched the house or went looking for me so I just ran. I didn’t mean to leave you alone with everything.” Vic was talking fast and gasping for breath as he paced each sentence. I felt sympathetic for him. I wonder where he could have gone… What if he went to Ash’s last night and spent the night there?

“Vic I need you to tell me everything. Do you even know why they came here in the first place?” I responded with my voice rising through the sentence becoming stricter. Vic looked down and shook his head then looked up at me with tears in his big brown eyes.

“They said that Ash called in and said that she showed the picture of you and her kissing and she said that you tried to rape her. They needed you to go down for questioning.” I looked up and Vic and he no longer had tears in his eyes, he looked more angry now. Then, he lost it and flipped the bedside table over.

“What the fuck?! How could she do that?! You know I didn’t try to kiss her or rape her!” Vic screamed and looked me straight in the eyes.

“You know that I didn’t try anything… right?” He lowered his voice a little and kept his eyes locked with mine. I didn’t know what to say because I don’t know who to believe. I haven’t talked to Ash yet… I broke the lock on our eyes and looked down at the ground. He ran up to the bed and put his arms on either side of me and he was towering over me.

“Mollie please believe me… I need you right now and if I don’t have you then I only have the guys.” Vic was whispering now and he sounded like he was going to break out in tears again. He pushed my chin up to make us lock eyes again. I looked at his big brown eyes and he seemed like he was genuinely upset about this.

“I don’t know Vic. I don’t know what to believe right now!” I spat out what I have been thinking this whole time. He got off the bed and stepped back a little.

“No Vic, don’t take this the wrong way…” I reached for him a little more. I didn’t mean for this to happen…  I don’t want to lose him again. If I thought last night was bad I don’t know what’s coming for me if he left. I would miss him so much but then again it would be best for him right now and while he is gone I can figure out this whole thing… I looked back at Vic and stared at him walking backwards slowly towards the door. He was shocked about this and I think he was trying to process this whole thing.

“Fine, if you really feel that way I will just leave. It’s sad that after everything we have been though you don’t trust me. I tell you everything and we tell each other everything all the time. Mollie, you one of the only people I trust and I want to stay but if you don’t want me here then I will just leave you alone…” He trailed off and turned around a little.

“Vic… Wait, I didn’t mean for this to happen and I don’t want you to leave. I’m sorry for saying that but right now I’m just lost and I don’t know what to believe. I’m still trying to process what’s been happening and I have no clue who is telling the truth. I’m trying Vic… Just please don’t leave…” I made up my mind to not let him leave. I need him here and if we’re going to figure something out, then we should figure it out together.

“I love you so much Vic...” I trailed off at the end a little but I meant every word of it. Vic used to be and still is my hero. I always used to listen to them whenever I had a major breakdown and those seemed to happen too much…But now that I was with Vic and that I had a miracle to him saving me and me meeting him for the first time was worth every bit of pain I had that day. I would do it all again if it’s for Vic. I love him so much that I will do anything for him. I would give myself away if Vic wanted me too. He means the world to me.

He smiled a little and stepped closer to me and threw his arms up in the air. I ran over to him and jumped into his arms and wrapped my arms around his neck.

“I love you too Mollie. More than anyone else in the world…” I buried myself into his shoulder and hugged him a little tighter. After standing there for a little while longer we broke apart. We looked at each other and then smiled. Vic leaned closer and I did too tilting y head to the side. Vic’s lips gently locked with mine and the touch of him made me feel so happy. I love being with Vic and I don’t know why I even had the idea of letting him leave. I can’t live without him.

We broke apart from each other again and I turned away to get ready. He turned around too and walked out of the door closing it behind him. I got ready quickly and picked up my phone. It was already 11:30. Ash should be awake by now… I have to go talk to her. I grabbed my keys and my jacket and ran out the door. I didn’t bother to tell anyone where I was going but I doubt it will matter.

I cautiously drove through neighborhoods until I found Ash’s house. I passed it a little and then parked the car on the street just around the corner by Ash’s house is. I got out of my car and locked the door. I straightened myself up and took a deep breath before I started walking up to the house. I wonder what she would say… more importantly do. She’s tried to hurt me multiple times before and now I’m alone going into her house.  

I stepped right in front of her door and took another deep breath and knocked on the door. I stood there for a minute and then I heard shuffling in the house. Finally Ash opened the door a little. When she saw it was me she kept the door at a small crack just enough to see me but not enough for me to get through.

“What do you want?” She asked strictly.

“I needed to talk to you about Vic. The cops came to the house yesterday and said that you called and showed them a picture of you and Vic kissing and that he tried to rape you.” I responded trying to be as calm as I can about this. This could go anyway.

“Good…” She replied shortly and then closed the door. I heard clicking going down the door before it was opened. She was standing there and then she stepped behind the door and revealed the two cops who came to the house yesterday. Their guns were pointed at my head and Ash was standing by them smiling. I stepped back a little and looked back at Ash.

“We have been waiting for you Mollie.” She had a satisfied look on her face as she stared back at me enjoying my fear. I stepped back some more and then sprinted as fast as I could.

“Get her!” Ash screamed from behind me. Then I heard the two cops running behind me. I was so close to my car… Just a little farther… I kept my pace up running as fast as I can. I turned the corner and then ran up to my car. I tried opening it but I forgot that it was locked. I pulled and pulled trying to get it open in a panic. I scrambled for my keys and kept glancing behind me to make sure they weren’t here yet. I finally pull out the keys and ran to the driver’s side. I couldn’t get it in the key hole because my hands were shaking too much.

“Hey there she is!” They ran towards me and I tried so hard to get the key in but I couldn’t manage it. I was so scared. I should have guessed something would happen but all I wanted to do was talk to Ash. Then finally I got the key in the car but before I could unlock it they caught me and put something over my face. I panicked and inhaled a deep breath and the toxin in the towel they had over my mouth seeped into my lungs and made me vision start to blur and the world was spinning. I was blacking out and I fell backwards. One of the cops caught me and the other put duct tape and handcuffs on my wrists behind me. I tried again to get away from them but I was getting so tired. The black covered my eyes and then, I passed out…
