Alex had a serious expression on his face. It was nothing like I've even seen before. His easy going face showed no mercy to the creature.
Alex swiftly jumped off the roof on the building. In a quick motion he slid his blade down the back of the demon. The smell of blood lingered in the night air. The creature swiped at him, but Alex was too fast for it. In another second Alex had the head of the creature rolling on the ground. When the creature died, its body denigrated into dust.
Alex glanced at me. His merciless expression was gone. His face now looked concerned.
"Are you ok?" He asked.
I didn't know. Was I okay? I looked at the sword in Alex's hand still dripping with blood. Was I hallucinating?
"What's going on?" I asked in a small voice, "What just happened?"
He didn't say anything.
"Tell me Alex." I said walking towards him. "I deserve to know what's going on. " My voice was demanding. Alex knew better than to keep things from me when I'm dying to know something.
"Come on," He said turning, "Let's go home. I'll tell you there."
I followed him throw the alley. At the end, his shiny car was parked there. I climbed in and waited for an explanation of the ride home.
He didn't say anything. His dark eyes were full of mystery, not something I'd ever imagined. We pulled into our drive way. I started to say something, but he stopped me.
"Wait till we're inside."
Alex unlocked the front door and stepped into the room. I followed. Mother and father were already home. I saw lights in the study, and mother was sitting on the expensive couch reading.
"Hello, how was your day?" Mother asked friendly.
"She knows." Alex said abruptly.
Mothers thin brows narrowed. "What do you mean?" She questioned.
"She knows about it."
"How?" Father said coming into the room.
"Wrong place at the wrong time." Alex said, "She happened to be there when I was working. She saw."
"Saw what?" Mother asked.
"She saw an Armaros."
"Alex," Mother said in a stern voice, but Alex was faster and cut her off.
"Look," He said, sitting down, "It's not even my fault okay? I didn't even know she was there."
Mother didn't say anything.
"I thought you were more responsible." Mother said standing up.
"You can't expect to keep this from her forever." Alex continued, "She's seventeen. She's going to find out sooner or later? Did you really think you can keep this from her for her entire life?"
"So," Father said with a grin on his face, "What do you know?"
"That's you're all crazy." I replied.
"I'm sorry Alex." Mother said sitting back down. She placed the book she was reading on the glass coffee table and sipped her tea. "I didn't mean to be so harsh. I just wasn't prepared to tell her right now."
Father laughed. "Sit down hun. It's time I told you a story."
I sat down slowly, afraid of what I was going to hear. Alex sat with his arms behind his head.
