CHAPTER FOUR

Would you believe me if I said I'm in love?

~ "Power Trip" J Cole

It was 2:30 PM, I sat in my living room reading one of my favorite books by John Green, Looking for Alaska.

No calls, no messages, nothing. Even though Rebecca apologized last night I still felt like she was avoiding me, we had an appointment today at The Plaza to check if everything was ready for her wedding next Saturday but it seemed like we were not going anymore, or at least I wasn't going.

I heard the beeping sound of the microwave letting me know that my hot chocolate was ready. I stood up from the couch making my way to the kitchen and I carefully grabbed my mug that had the words "I LOVE NEW YORK" written across. Was I really going to spend the whole day by myself? I should probably call Rebecca, this situation was ridiculous, we were fighting for no reason.

Before I could go back to my book my phone rang, I quickly ran to the coffee table in the living room, where I had left it and answered it, putting the mug down.

"Hello?" I said as I sat down once again on my couch.

"Are you coming?" My sister's voice greeted me.

Damn, did she read minds? I was just about to call her.

"Ye-yeah, right now?" I wasn't ready but I supposed she needed me there, after all I was her maid of honor, I needed to be there.

"Yes, right now!" I could imagine her rolling her eyes. She sounded more annoyed than usual. "Meet me at the entrance of The Plaza in 30."

"Ok." I replied and she hang up without saying anything else.

Jeez, for someone who just apologized last night, she sure as hell didn't seem sorry. Or maybe you're just annoying. my subconscious murmured.

I took a 10 minutes shower and put a navy short dress with my usual white converse. I had no time to apply makeup or to do anything to my hair so I went au natural. Bad hair days were my favorite, not.

Powder was my most precious possession because it covered every single imperfection on my face and God knows I have many, starting for my freckles. Maybe once I get to the hotel I can properly apply some.

After hailing a cab and giving the driver my destination I finally arrived at the Plaza. My sister was not at the entrance as she promised, why am I not surprised? You shouldn't have come. My subconscious told me. Oh shut up!

I took out my phone from my bag and tried calling her but it sent me straight to voice mail. I probably looked like an idiot standing in front of The Plaza clueless of where to go. Great, Cass the weirdo.

"Cassie!" I heard a voice call me from behind and I turned around.

Rebecca. Thank god!

She was climbing out of a yellow cab, dark ray-bans covered her eyes.

"Let's go inside, the wedding planner is waiting for us." She said as she grabbed my hand and pulled me through the revolving door at the entrance of the hotel.

As you can imagine the lobby was huge and expensive looking. White and gold tiles covered the floor and large curtains framed the edges of the windows and let's not talk about the ceiling, an immense chandelier was right at the center of the room, grabbing everyone's attention. It was the perfect location for a wedding, a mid July wedding in this case.

"There she is," My sister said after inspecting the area with her eyes.

"Hi!" She waved her hand in front of her face trying to get the attention of the old lady a few feet away from us.
