CHAPTER TWO

"You must be the bartender." I told him.

The man standing in front of me didn't say anything, he just stared at me with narrowed eyes and his hands inside of his pockets. For someone who's getting paid to do his job he didn't seem too ecstatic. His eyes were red and his white shirt was a little to open. Wait, was he even the bartender or just a guest?

“You’re the bartender, right?” I asked uncertain.

“Do I look like one?” He replied.

I instantly flushed.

"Cassie!" My sister's voice made me jump. She was stepping out of the elevator followed by Brody who was carrying two boxes. "I see you've met Harry."

Shit. Brody’s friend.

Harry held a smirk on his face, he probably noticed my cheeks turning scarlet. Damn, this was embarrassing.

"Harry that's Cassandra, Becca's little sister." Brody said as he followed Rebecca into the loft. "And this," he gave the man a satisfactory smile. "This is my dear friend, Harry." He told me.

"Hi." I managed to reply while I stood awkwardly pulling at my dress.

The man just stared at me, he didn't say anything apart from a quick nod. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be a jerk. Nice friends you have, Brody.

Brody was a tall man, his eyes were a deep shade of blue that made contrast with his brown short curls. He was a little older for my sister but they didn't seem to care. He made his way into the kitchen as his guest followed him. I guess they were close friends since it seemed they had arrived together.

I was relieved when they left me and my sister alone. I didn't want to face that guy again, he probably thought I was the dumbest and rudest.

"So," Rebecca muttered. "Is everything ready?"

"Yeah, I'm just waiting for the snacks."

"How much longer until everyone gets here?" She grabbed the remote from the coffee table that rested in the middle of the living room and as she turned on the sound system, "Changes" by Faul & Wad Ad came out from the speakers placed in every corner of the loft.

"Just a couple of minutes" I replied.

"Becca, where do I put the wine?" Brody yelled from the kitchen.

"Just leave it inside the boxes." She yelled back.

So that's what Brody was carrying, two boxes full of wine. My subconscious chuckled, drunks.

After a couple of minutes the bartender and the food arrived, it was mostly sweet treats like brownies, red velvet and some strawberries covered in chocolate. I grabbed a couple of those before the guests started to fill the place, each one of them with extravagant clothes and expensive coats. I had no idea who these people were and they seemed way older than me anyway so I had no interest in socializing.

Everybody was talking and drinking as I sat back in one of the white sofas clutching a red cup filled with vodka and cranberry juice in between my hands, I'm not used to this type of drinks, I'd rather drink water or beer in extreme cases.

I probably looked like a loner. Great.

Rebecca seemed to be having a great time, she was dancing with a group of friends and I recognized two of her bridesmaids. I could go and dance with them, I guess it was better than looking as an antisocial freak sitting all by myself. Or I could just go get a glass of water at the bar since I wasn't going to be able to drink this mixture of pure alcohol with only a few drops of juice.
