STRANGER DANGER
━━━━━━━━━━━
BELLAMY KEPT AN EYE on Jinny as they walked through the viridescent woods that surrounded them with its lush vegetation. She was walking off to the side next to Finn, he remembered the boy's name from all the adventures she'd had on Mecha Station. They conversed in hushed tones, something to do with tracking by the look of studious concentration on her face, as she pointed towards the bark of a tree. God, how he missed being able to look at her. Finn laughed then, drawing a wide grin from the slim woman and it almost took Bellamy's breath away with how her face lit up instantly by the small action.
"Hey." Murphy walked up to him. "What's your beef with the Commander's daughter?"
Bellamy turned his gaze back to the front and shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly despite the nervous beat of his heart. "What are you talking about?"
"You keep staring at her," the boy noted with a smirk. "You got some history with her or something?"
"Something like that," Bellamy muttered. His eyes wandered back to Jinny, but she had disappeared behind some foliage out of his sight. With a sigh, he picked up his pace to walk alongside Clarke ahead of him. "Hey, hold up! What's the rush?" he called. "You don't survive a spear through the heart."
"Put the gun away, Bellamy," Wells rebuked, eyeing the pistol in his hand.
"Well, why don't you do something about it, huh?" Murphy taunted but the man simply shrugged and stuffed the firearm into the waistband of his pants again.
"Jasper screamed when they moved him," Clarke said. "If the spear struck his heart, he would have died instantly. It doesn't mean we have time to waste."
Bellamy lunged forwards and grabbed hold of her forearm, forcing her to spin around and face him. "As soon as you take this wristband off, we can go."
"The only way the Ark is gonna think I'm dead is if I'm dead," she told him heatedly. "Got it?"
"Brave princess," he mocked.
"Hey, why don't you find your own nickname?" Finn asked scathingly, breaking through some shrubs on an incline to their right. "You call this a rescue party? Got to split up, cover more ground. Clarke, come with me."
The girl smiled and crossed the distance towards him. Bellamy looked around with a frown, not finding Jinny anywhere nearby from where Finn had emerged from. He found himself walking alongside Wells instead, and it was obvious from the furtive glances he sent Clarke's way that he cared more for the girl than just a friend. It was the exact same thing that he was doing with Jinny anyway.
"Guess we got more in common than meets the eye, huh?" he asked.
"We have nothing in common," Wells bit out.
