"mister devil dude"

-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-

"Good evening."
Sebastian Shaw's voice was smooth, almost pleasant, like a man greeting guests to a dinner party.

"My name is Sebastian Shaw. And I am not here to hurt you," he smiled.

Outside, one of the surviving guards appeared behind the shattered window, weapon raised.
"Freeze!"

Shaw didn't flinch. "Azazel."

Before the guard could blink, Azazel vanished in a flash of red smoke—then reappeared a heartbeat later, his blades dripping. The man was gone.

Natalie flinched, breath catching in her throat. Alex brushed his hand gently against hers. She looked down, then up at him. Without saying a word, he shifted slightly in front of her, his shoulder shielding her body. Natalie reached out and held onto his wrist tightly.

Hank, still beside her, hadn't loosened his grip on her hand since the chaos began.

Shaw stepped forward, hands clasped behind his back like a professor giving a lecture.
"My friends, there is a revolution coming. When mankind discovers who we are, what we can do, each of us will face a choice."

He began pacing slowly, locking eyes with each of them.
"Be enslaved... or rise up to rule."

His tone never rose. That made it worse.

"Choose freely," Shaw continued, "but know that if you are not with us, then, by definition, you are against us."

He turned, looking down at them from the centre of the ruined lounge.
"So, you can stay and fight for the people who hate and fear you... or you can join me. And live like Kings."

His gaze lingered on Natalie—so long it made her skin crawl.
Then it shifted to Angel.
"And Queens," he added, voice soft.

Shaw extended a hand.

Angel didn't hesitate.

She stepped forward and took it.

"No..." Natalie whispered, the word barely audible.

The two began walking toward Azazel.

"Angel? Are you kidding me?" Sean snapped.

Angel looked back at them, eyes cool.
"Come on. We don't belong here."
She shrugged. "And that's nothing to be ashamed of."

They turned away. Walked off together.

Raven's voice was sharp with panic. "We have to do something!"

Darwin turned abruptly and was shoved by Alex.

Then Darwin stepped forward.

"Stop," he called out. "I'm coming with you."
