"Raven, come home"

-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-

Charles' fingers twitched against the metal band of Cerebro, sweat trickling down his brow. The helmet thrummed against his temples as he reached out with his mind—millions of voices screaming, whispering, echoing in the dark. And then... one familiar spark.

Raven.

She was seated in a bustling airport, ticket in hand, waiting. Ready to disappear.

Charles slipped into the mind of a nearby woman, her movements halting as he gently took control.

"Raven," the woman said calmly. "Stop running."

Raven's head snapped up, eyes wide as she turned toward the voice. She blinked, confused. "Charles?"

She looked around, searching. "Where are you?"

"I'm still at the house," the woman replied, Charles' voice echoing through her. "Where you should be."

Raven stood, tense, ready to bolt. "I know what I need to do."

She moved away, but Charles was already leaping to another mind—this time, a man she passed on her way.

"If you kill Trask, you'll only inspire more like him."

Raven's jaw clenched. "Then I'll kill them too."

"That's not you," a young boy said as he brushed past her, Charles' voice now carried by innocent eyes. "Those are Erik's words. Not yours."

She faltered. Just slightly.

A flight attendant bumped into her, and Raven dropped her passport. As they both reached to retrieve it, Charles tried one last time.

"The girl I knew—the girl I grew up with—wasn't a killer," the attendant said softly. "She was kind. Compassionate."

Raven stared at her, frozen in place.

"I have compassion," she said finally. "Just not for him." She grabbed the passport and walked off, her expression unreadable.

In Cerebro, Charles slumped back, the light from the room flickering.

"She's shutting me out," he said, voice strained. "I'm barely holding on..."

But then—a shimmer—Raven stopped.

And across the terminal, a spectral version of Charles appeared before her.

He wasn't really there. But to her, he might as well have been.
