"stop this, Erik"

-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-

"I read the teleporter's mind," Charles said, voice grim. "Shaw is drawing all the power out of his submarine. He's turning himself into a nuclear bomb."

Moira paled. "The Geiger count is out of control."

"Moira," Charles turned to her. "Get on the radio. Tell them to clear both fleets immediately."

"We've got no time," Erik growled. "I'm going in."

"Beast, Havok, Ivy—back him up," Charles ordered. "Erik, once you're in, I can guide you. But I need you to shut down whatever's blocking me. After that, we just hope I'm not too late to stop him."

Erik nodded once, already moving.

Alex gave a sharp nod and glanced at Natalie. "You ready?"

Natalie lifted her chin, her expression calm but fierce. "Let's end this."

The three of them—Erik, Alex, and Natalie—joined Hank outside. The battlefield stretched ahead, eerily quiet. But they weren't alone.

Angel's wings shimmered in the sunlight as she took flight. Riptide flexed his hands, twin tornadoes forming with a hiss. Azazel unsheathed his blades, red eyes gleaming.

Natalie stepped forward, the air around her pulsing with energy. With a flick of her wrist, thick vines erupted from the earth, snaking toward Riptide and coiling around his legs, lifting him into the air.

"Nice," Alex muttered under his breath, watching her with something close to awe.

But Azazel was already gone in a blink, reappearing between Alex and Hank. Steel clashed. The sound of grunts and fists echoed.

Natalie flew up to meet Riptide, eyes burning as she tightened the vine around his throat—but Angel blindsided her, sending her spiraling to the ground.

She landed hard, back arching in pain.

"Natalie!" Alex started forward, but she was already on her feet, fire dancing from her palms.

Angel came in hot, spitting fireballs. Natalie dodged and retaliated, hurling her own flames until Angel veered off. But Riptide wasn't done. With one last gasp of power, he sent a tornado crashing toward Natalie.

She lifted her hands to counter, but the force lifted her like a rag doll and slammed her into the jet's side with a sickening crack.

On the beach, Alex and Sean scrambled to their feet.

"Natalie—" Alex sprinted toward her, but she pushed herself upright, staggering only slightly as she joined them.

"You okay?" he asked, hands immediately reaching out to steady her.
