~ Author's note: OHMYGOSH GUYSSSS. CAN UOU BELIEVE THIS. PART THREE. AND STUFF. Now I need your opinions! Is roy justified in his sudden desire to have a break? What initially caused the power struggle between Roy and MacKenzie, and why is she using Roy's disability to have control over him? Why is Roy beginning to 'notice more' that he's 'crippled', and why is he outright being a dick? Does MacKenzie have a right to be suddenly hostile towards Roy? Most importantly, is there anything you wish to see go down in LIFT, or see more of? I love you guys! Can't believe we've gotten this far. xx extra special shoutout to Azael-Crimson , for giving me motivation to continue, and having a beautiful instagram! This northern downpour was sending it's love, and Roy climbed back into the car soaking wet and self-loathing. He was beginning to think MacKenzie was just on the second story of the house, and didn't actually go off anywhere. Still, he worried. And he cursed at himself, thinking that entire time he could have been talking to her.
He drove back to the house slower than usual; Roy usually didn't care about speed, but the rain on the windshield was making it a bit difficult to see the road in front of him. He wondered what would happen if he drove his car into the woods on the longest driveway in the world. He didn't.
He parked the car in front of the house, staring out the window at the rain until he convinced himself that it was important he didn't stay in the car all night.
Ding ding ding.
He had a realization when he saw a footprint in the direction of the woods.
"Are you really going to make me do this?" He shouted.
Pine leaves and branches covered the floor of the woods.
"I really think now you're overreacting. MacKenzie."
Roy took a deep breath. He was stuck.
"I know you're sad. I know you're angry with me."
He sat in silence, the only sound around him being branches crackling and rain pooling up on leaves.
"I care about you. But I'm going back."
Roy began to roll backwards, trying to figure out if he was caught on a tree root or something, when he heard: "That's kind of rude.
Startled, he realized who said it.
"What are you doing!" Roy exclaimed.
MacKenzie was curled up against a tree.
"You...ran over me." She sat up and held her wrist.
"It wouldn't have happened if you didn't run into the woods!"
"I thought you were going to abandon me, I thought you were going to."
"MacKenzie, you need to get yourself together so we can get you home."
Oh god. She took something. She took something because of my dick move. And I've run over my girlfriend.
Roy grabbed her arm and helped her onto his lap. She tried to resist at first then suddenly went limp in his arms.
"You are not doing this right now."
MacKenzie opened her eyes and put her arms around Roy's neck as he began to go back to the house.
"What did you take."
"Please don't abandon me."
"What did you take, MacKenzie."
"Did you really sleep with Helena?"
"Oh my god."
"Dahlia is one thing, but Helena-" MacKenzie leaned over and vomited.
"Don't put your head back."
"I get it now, okay, Roy?" MacKenzie sobbed as Roy lay her down on her side on the couch.
He made eye contact with Helena standing at the top of the stairs. He mouthed 'call the doctor'. MacKenzie moaned, clutching her stomach.
"This really hurts."
"Have her throw up." Helena was standing behind Roy holding a glass. "Give her this right now. If she's overdosing she needs to get whatever she took out of her stomach."
Roy took the glass hesitantly before instructing MacKenzie to swallow then lean over. She retched immediately, her body in tremors, struggling to catch her breath.
"MacKenzie." He lightly slapped her face. "Don't do this to me. Come on"
"I've called the doctor," Helena said quietly.
"Go get Sparrow, go get somebody-"
"No one is home."
"MacKenzie, don't close your eyes. Don't go to sleep. We need each other."
She whimpered.
"You can't do this, you've got to keep it together."
"I told the on-call there's been an overdose."
"I didn't tell you there was an overdose."
"It's obvious she's trying to kill herself. It must be because of that fight you had earlier."
"Shut up," Roy said.
MacKenzie was unconscious again. Her lips were blue. Roy held her face in his hands.
"It's not the time to sleep."
