Chapter Four: “My Failure, and His ‘So-Called’ Big Idea.”
Marry’s P.O.V.
“I can’t believe him!” Sarah shouted, throwing some of her popcorn across the room out of frustration. “I mean, New York … he’s going to freakin’ New York for the entire summer break! Why didn’t he tell me sooner? Damn that little bitch!”
I heard Hilary let out a small sigh. “Well, to be fair, we all know you would’ve reacted the same way if he had said something sooner.”
“Yeah, he probably just wanted to live a little longer … aw man, I hope you don’t actually kill him tomorrow.” Said Kelly, in a slightly frightened tone of voice.
Kill him? Hell, she would never actually kill Jay. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if she came damn well near though!
“She won’t kill him, she loves him too much.” I said looking over at Sarah with a fake flirtatious expression spread across my face.
“No I do not! Grrr! Why do I even let you guys come over to stay like this, if all y’all are going to do is pick on me?” She said, as a bright color red made its way to her cheeks.
“Because, it’s our annual sleepover, it’s your turn, and, because we’re your friends, and it’s our job to pick on you.” I said, followed by a small chuckle.
“Yeah, right.” Hilary said, agreeing with me, also laughing a little.
“Yeah Sarah.” Kelly said mockingly to Sarah.
I watched as her blush deepened. She then crossed her arms, and shook her head. “You guys are all assholes …” Sarah said in a joking tone.
I smiled warmly at her.
I mean, having such a great guy like Jay in her life, even as just a good friend, was lucky. Sure, he was my good friend too. He was all of ours, but, I really can’t help but feel that there is more behind those two, that even they’re not aware of.
I mean, I know how Sarah – not admittedly – feels about Jay. But, to be honest, I don’t know exactly how Jay feels about her. I want to believe that he likes her as more than a friend, for Sarah’s sake anyway … but, I’m not entirely sure.
Well, one thing I am sure of is that Jay values Sarah’s friendship, trust, and, above all, her best interest more than anything. The very opposite goes for a certain jackass, and what he values for me.
Ugh …
Seriously though, I really don’t understand how any guy – including Max – could be that condescending, and just a, well, asshole! He is exactly the opposite of Jay. Who, by the way, is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met in my life, while Max really just isn’t.
Ugh … why am I thinking about him right now? I’m at a sleepover, trying to have good time hanging out with my best friends. I hardly think that thinking of Max constitutes as having a good time.
“Um, Marry? You still there?” Sarah said, waving her hand in front of my face, bringing me out of my train of thought.
“U-uh, yeah. Sorry, what were you saying Sarah?” I asked, feeling my cheeks starting to warm up a little.
