"So do you want to come to dinner? My parents said it was okay. You don't have t-" I cut her off.
"I would love to." She looked happy at my answer and that made me happy.
"Okay. Cool. Come on in." She unlocked the door and we stepped inside.
Her apartment looked identical to mine except for the furniture and wall colors. Two little boys ran past and her dad greeted us.
"Hello. You must be Percy. Annabeth has told us about you." He said as we shook hands.
"All good things I hope, sir."
"Yes, very much so. I want to thank you for befriending our daughter at your school. I remember when I moved to a new school, I walked around by myself for a good week."
"It's no problem at all."
"Okay dad. Percy and I are going to go get some homework done." Annabeth interjected while pulling me away.We went into her room. It was very gray. Everything was a tone of gray, silver, or white.
(Her room looks like this.)We sat on her bed and started to pull our books out when she turned to me.
"You spent a while talking to my dad."
"I had to make a good impression."
"Why?"
"Because you're my friend."
"Oh." She looked kind of disappointed but recovered quickly.
"So, do you know how to do this?" She asked while pointing to a question on a math worksheet.
"Nope. I was hoping you knew how to do it."
"So we're screwed?"
"It seems that way." We both laughed at our predicament and then she started tickling me. I couldn't help laughing.
"Well someone's ticklish." She smiled.
"Oh, I'll get you for that." I leaned up and started tickling her. She fell onto her back and tried to punch me, but when you're being tickled, punches are more like fist bumps since you can't really pay attention to anything else besides being tickled.
After like twenty seconds, I gave up and she sighed in relief. We locked eyes and could feel myself blushing. Her eyes closed. But then we heard a call from the kitchen telling us that dinner was ready. Her cheeks were pink and mine were too, but we tried to shake it off as if nothing had happened. Well nothing did happen, but there was something there.
We sat down at the table as her stepmom brought out a tray of chicken and vegetables. It was delicious. We talked about our day and basic stuff like that. I asked them how they were enjoying New York. They all liked it here.
After dinner, I helped clean up. Then I had to go back to our apartment. Annabeth walked me out.
"See you tomorrow morning?"
"Yup. I'll be here. Whenever you're here, probably. I'll try to not sleep in too late. And-"
"I got it, Seaweed Brain."
I blushed. "Okay, Wise Girl." I leaned in to give her a hug and she returned it while burying her face in my chest. When we pulled away we locked eyes again.
I broke off the awkward moment with a wave and said bye. Then I opened my apartment door.
I quickly said hi to my parents and went to my room and closed the door behind me. I flopped down on my bed and picked up my phone. I checked some of my friend's stories on Snapchat and decided to watch some YouTube.
I clicked on one of Pewdiepie's recent videos but wasn't really paying attention to it. I was too focused on Annabeth.
I hadn't even known her for more than a few days, but it felt like we'd been friends for years.
It felt like I'd liked her for years.I went to bed early and dreamt of her.
