Traitor

On Monday morning, I greeted Annabeth with a quick kiss, and linked my fingers with hers as we walked. It was kind of cold out, and she had goosebumps, so I gave her my swim team hoodie. It was way too big on her and she looked really cute.
We just talked on our way to school and met our friends outside.
I smirked as Jason looked back and forth between Annabeth and me and our intertwined hands.
Piper noticed too apparently because she let out a squeal.
"I knew it! Awe you guys are so cute together!"
Annabeth and I turned pink and Leo looked confused.
"What? They're dating?" He asked incredulously.
Piper just rolled her eyes.
"Leo, you're as oblivious as Percy. And that's saying something."
"What is it with everyone telling me I'm oblivious?" I asked and everyone laughed. Except for Rachel. She looked pissed.
"You couldn't see how obvious it was that you two liked each other." Piper said.
"It's okay, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth assured me.
"Wow you already have nicknames for each other?" Leo said and we laughed again. Then the warning bell rang and Rachel rushed inside. I wondered what was wrong.
Annabeth frowned. "I didn't mean to mess up your friendship with her."
"What?"
"She angry we're together. You two never dated?"
"Nope."
"Okay. I'll try to talk to her later. We have art together while you're at swim practice."
"Let's not worry about it now." I said and wrapped my arm around her shoulders.
We walked inside and right into Courtney.
"Oh please." She scoffed. "You're still pretending to be dating?"
"No we aren't pretending." I said, holding up our interlocked hands.
Courtney just rolled her eyes. To prove my point I leaned down to kiss Annabeth and Courtney just stomped away.
We pulled away and laughed.
"It's nice to not be pretending." Annabeth whispered.
I nodded and Annabeth pressed her lips to mine again. But we didn't pull away quickly. I backed her up against the lockers and I had trouble remembering where I was or who I am. All I could think about was her.
Until I heard someone loudly clear their throat behind me.
We pulled away and I turned around to find my stepdad, Paul, standing there.
"Why don't you two go to class he said quickly and awkwardly walked away.
My face was a bright shade of crimson and we burst out laughing at the extremely embarrassing situation as we walked to class.

We got in our seats right as the final bell rang. Jason smirked at me and I rolled my eyes. He whispered something to Leo, who laughed quietly.
The teacher took attendance and we were given a packet full of mental abuse to humans, or in other words math. It took the whole period to complete, so we didn't get to talk.

After class we were walking to the vending machine since a lot of us were hungry when Nico bumped into someone.
It was Will Solace. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, plays on the soccer team, is in the band, and freaks out happily whenever we do anything remotely medical related in science.
He was helping Nico pick up his books and Nico's normally pale face was very pink. I'll have to talk to him about that later.
Nico finished gathering his books, awkwardly said bye, and walk/ran to catch up with us.

Then a kid from the swim team, Chris, ran up to me.
"Hey Percy. Coach wants you to lead practice today since he won't be there." Then he looked at Annabeth lustfully. "Who's your new friend, Perce?"
I protectively wrapped my arm around Annabeth. "My girlfriend, Annabeth." I growled. I must have looked pretty scary because Chris backed away and turned around towards some other members of the team.
"Percy, it's okay." Annabeth said while putting her hand on my chest.
I immediately calmed down and was worried I just acted like an overprotective freak.
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I like how protective you are of me. It makes me feel safe."
I leaned down to kiss her. Right after we bridged the gap between us, the stupid bell rang.

In science we sat in the very back of the room, holding hands and whispering the whole time.

Then in Greek, we were given a partner project. We had one week to do a report on a famous person in Greek Mythology.
We decided to do Perseus, my namesake. It had to be 3 pages long, so we had a lot of work to do.
We were given time in class to start our research and found out that Perseus was the one that cut off Medusa's head. Sounds nasty.
If I had to do that, I'd probably do something impertinent, like mail it to the gods or the king.

Annabeth laughed when I told her this.
Jason and Piper decided to do Jason, his namesake. Leo was mad that he wasn't named after someone.
Him and Nico decided to do Theseus.

Next we went to lunch. We all sat down at our usual table, but Rachel's spot was empty. Piper said she wasn't in the bathroom. I looked around the lunchroom for her and found her sitting with Courtney and her minions.
I pointed over to where she was and Piper dragged me up to go over there.
I looked sympathetically at Annabeth as I was pulled away.

When we got there Piper exploded.
"What are you doing over here?"
Rachel didn't reply so Courtney did.
"Rachel just realized that she didn't want to be in your stupid little group anymore."
"I wasn't talking to you, Courtney. Piper said her name like it was a horrible disease.
"Shut up Piper. Rachel knows that some friend groups are better than other friend groups. I helped her with that." Courtney scoffed.
I had to hold Piper back from attacking Courtney. I sent Rachel a disapproving look and dragged Piper away.
When we got back to our table, Piper huffed and sat down.
"We can count Rachel out of anything we ever do again. She has associated with the enemy."
"Why?" Jason asked.
"Because she's been in love with Percy since freshman year, and now him and Annabeth are dating."
I looked at Piper in shock and instinctively took Annabeth's hand under the table.
"What?! She told you this?" I asked.
"Yeah. On the last day of school last year. And before you ask, she made me promise not to tell you and it wasn't my place to tell anyways. But I don't care now. She's a traitor!"

"This is why I don't like girls. Well except for you guys. They have way too much drama." Nico said and rolled his eyes.

"Oh well. I'm not breaking up with Annabeth for her so if she wants to be like that, there's nothing we can do about it." I said.
Annabeth squeezed my hand. She'd been ver quiet during this and I couldn't blame her. I'd be uncomfortable if I was in her position too.
"I'm so sorry about all of this." I whispered in her ear.
She shivered and put her hand on my bicep.
"Don't do that, Percy." She whispered back in my ear, causing me to shiver and blush.
"Ahem." Jason cleared his throat. "Get a room, you two."
Then they all started laughing and I looked like Piper had put all of her blush on me. Annabeth looked the same way. I gave her a small smile.
I realized I hadn't eaten any of my lunch yet, so I dug in. I had a PB&J sandwich, a bag of chips, and some carrots because my mom insisted on me eating vegetables. I'm seventeen and still have to eat my veggies.
"So I wanted to invite you guys over tonight to watch some movies and stuff since it's a teacher work day tomorrow." Piper said.
We all agreed because Piper's apartment is awesome. He dad is a pretty famous actor, so they have an epic penthouse with a screening room that is great for movie nights.
We had all, except for Annabeth, spent the night countless times. Our parents didn't really care about it since we'd been friends for so long.
I turned to Annabeth. "You'll come, right?"
"Yeah. It sounds fun."
"Cool."
"So meet at my place at 5?" Piper asked?
We all nodded.

Annabeth and I walked home quickly to get ready to go. I just packed my backpack with some clothes and other essentials like my toothbrush.
I met Annabeth outside and she had packed her backpack too. She still had on my hoodie and I knew I probably wouldn't get it back, but I didn't care.
We started the 10 minute walk to Piper's house.
