Caroline is shaking, you could see it all over her body if it weren't so dark in this basement.
Voice shaking she questions, "Klaus? Is that you?"
She senses someone behind her, her breath stops short. He whispers into her ear, "Hello, love. It's been a long time." Just then the lights come back on, blinding her for a moment. She spins around, "Klaus, you scared the shit out of Elena and I!" He smiles at her, "I'm sorry love, but we both know I'm not one for predictability. Caroline shakes her head back and forth.
Caroline begins to walk around him, but stops for a moment "How did you get in here? You weren't invited in. And why are you here?"
Klaus laughs a little at this question, "My love, I think you are forgetting the small little detail that I built this city. I don't need invited in."
Caroline sarcastically looks at him, seeming as uninterested as can be besides wanting to know why he's here. "I think you are forgetting to answer my other question, why are you here, Klaus?"
He takes a few steps towards her. "I have some business with your friend, Elena."
"What kind of business?" Caroline asks.
"It seems your friend is having a little issue with containing her need for human blood, and I'm going to help her."
Caroline pauses, she knows Klaus has never been the one to help someone out of the goodness of his heart. He's always had an ulterior motive, so this time should be no different.
Klaus can see her thinking, and continues: "I'm going to help her embrace her problem, instead of run from it."
Caroline retorts, "Klaus, are you crazy? She doesn't want human blood, she is just going through a rough time right now. She will pull through, why would you want to ruin that?! She can get through this."
Klaus looks at her for a long moment, observing every inch of the expression on her face. "Everyone wants to give Elena what she wants, no matter the consequence. I'm giving her what she wants more than anything. I can see it in her eyes that she just wants the taste of warm human blood running through her. She's miserable, I'm going to help her get out of the misery she is going through."
Caroline amazed, even after everything Klaus has proven he can do without caring, turns and begins to walk away. How can he do this? Elena would hate herself if she hurt anyone. What is he thinking? And further, why? Why does he want to use Elena?
