"If you keep going at this rate, there won't be anymore human civilazation for you to indulge in, love."
I look up at Klaus who is smiling at me, clearly pleased with the outcome of what monster in me he has created. Surpisingly though, I don't feel like a monster. I've actually never felt more alive. Something in me changed as soon as that blood hit my lips...
"I have you to thank." I say softly, standing up meeting his gaze; ignoring the multitude of lifeless bodies around us.
"What do you mean? I didn't do anything, you made your decision; I had nothing to do with that."
I quickly cut in, "You're the one who noticed what I wanted, and what I needed, Klaus. I thought that's what all the people around me who I care about would have realized."
"That's because they didn't want to believe it, Elena. They want you to be the Elena they knew before you were turned into a vampire, but what they don't realize love, is that Elena is dead."
"And she's not coming back." I finish his sentence before he can take his next breath.
"There have been a few deaths in the French Quarter that happened late last night, that weren't from us, I think we should go check it out." he says. I ask, "Who do you think it was?" "I have no idea, but whoever it is sure has been feeding quite frequently and being sloppy about covering it up." he continues.
We arrive at the old tattered building in the French Quarter, there are probably 10 dead on the floor, blood smeared all over the walls, clothes ripped and torn. Bite marks all over the bodies, some limbs dismembered. Whoever was here did a number on these people, that even I find it a little disturbing.
"Who would do this?" I ask, a little nervous.
" I have no idea, but they did a bloody good job." He laughs.
I look at him and smirk.
I turn my attention to all the bodies around us, as if Klaus were reading my mind he clears his throat and begins: ""We'll have to keep an eye on this, but for now I think we should head back and clean up our mess....... I'm not one to usually care what a blood bath I leave behind, but with everything going on it's probably best."
I look at him skeptically, "What do you mean, with everything going on?"
"Well, I'm sure you wouldn't want all of your friends finding out, and your precious Damon."
I cut him off, "Klaus, I don't care what they think anymore. I can't keep pretending to be someone I'm not anymore..." I continue, "You see me for who I am now, you of all people. Someone who everyone thinks is some evil monster, but there must be some soul left in you to be able to see right through me."
I walk over to him as he cuts through me with his piercing gaze.
"I don't care what any of them think, something has changed in me Klaus. They weren't here with me for this change, you were. I may be wrong, but I may not, and I can't help but feel that was for a reason. You saved me Klaus, from being someone I was a long time ago, and showed me that it's okay to be this version of myself that I am now."
He looks down into my eyes, as if he has traveled deep into the depths of my dark twisted soul.
I lean up slowly, our lips collide together and I am consumed in a tunnel of emotion and feeling. He grabs my waist and pulls me into him. My whole body is on fire, waves of electricity spreads through my veins. As we slowly break away from our embrace a creak from the floor sounds from across the floor of 10 lifeless bodies left to dead at the hand of a vampire that was neither I or Klaus.
I follow the trail of bodies, and as my eyes travel up the person standing at the other side of the room..... I realize..............
It's Stefan.
