// Ponyboy's Point Of View //

I walked around my room pacing, thinking of a plan. I might be able to get some common people clothes if I look hard enough in my closet. I know I have some somewhere, I've always had a pair or two just in case. Finally I run over to my closet as quietly as possible and dig through it for clothes.

There has to be so thing here, there just has to be! I remember wearing clothes like that and I always hid them to mom and. . . dad didn't find them. Where are they, where are they, where are they?! I dug through the drawers more, quickly getting angry at the fact I couldn't find them. Did dad find them and throw them away, I swear if he did I'm gonna. . .

I found the pair of old jeans and normal red shirt and pull them out of the drawer. I stand up and throw my fist in the air, smiling at my small victory. Someone knocked on my door and I threw the clothes under my bed, running as quietly and quickly as possible and sit on the bed. The door opened revealing one of the maids that worked here. It was my favorite maid actually, Clara.

"Ponyboy, your father wanted to tell you that you'd have company over for dinner and to wear something nice," she said smiling lightly.

"Thank you Clara, I'll make sure to dress in my good clothes. Would you happen to know who's coming over for dinner," I ask smiling at her.

"If I am correct, it is one of the neighboring kingdoms. Other than that I don't have an idea of who it is," she said with a shrug.

"When will they arrive," I ask.

"In about an hour, you know how your father likes to eat dinner around four," she said, shaking her head.

"Thank you Clara. I hope to see you soon," I said, nodding my head at her.

"No problem Ponyboy. I'll see you soon," she said closing the door and walking away, I could hear her heels clicking.

She was the only maid I got to actually refer to me by my first name. She was really sweet and didn't act all proper around me, we got along well. I turned around and went by my closet, opening it. There was a lot of very nice clothes in here but I needed to wear my best if we had company over. I picked out a black pair of dress pants and a white button up, that is the best I'm going for.

I went over to the mirror I had hanging on the wall and fixed my hair, combing it with my fingers. Once I thought it looked nice, I stopped and walked over to the bed and changed into my good clothes for dinner. Sighing, I go to the end of the bed and get my dress shoes, slipping them on my feet and sit on the bed. I never liked when company was over, I had to act all proper and be a prince, I had to wear my crown. Reminding myself, I reach over to my night stand and put the crown on top of my head, making sure it didn't fall off.

When I was little, the crown used to slip off of my head until I learned to keep my balance a few years after. My brothers crowns never fell off of their heads, to dad they were his perfect children. I was the one child he never wanted, I was an accident. Mom loved me though, when dad never payed attention to me, mom always played with me. I loved her so so much and now she's gone. . .

When I was around eight years old, she died of sickness. No matter what we did to cure her, it didn't work, she only got worse. I cried for weeks after she died, dad barely let a tear slip. She was my best friend, the only friend I had when I was little. I blinked my eyes several times, not wanting the tears to flow at the moment.

Another knock came at my door and I stood up, opening the door. Clara stood there again, smiling lightly as she put her hands back down by her sides. I let her and and she walks in slightly, standing by the door frame. I smile at her and nod, j owing she only comes to my room if she has something to say. She clears her throat.

"Dinner is ready and the guest is here. Your father wants you down in the dining room in about five minutes," she says.

"I'll be right down," I said sighing.

She leaves the room and I follow her, closing the door behind me. She walks down one hallway as I take the other, knowing the way to the dining room now by heart. It was only a few sets of stairs and a few hallways, nothing too bad. Silently, I walk down a set of stairs and take a left walking down a long hallway. Finally, I reach the dining room door and push it open quietly.

"Nice to see you could finally show up Michael," my dad says smirking at the use of that name.

I fake a small smile and walk over to the table, taking a seat. A man sat at the table, I didn't recognize him at all. He smiled at me and I nodded my head, smiling back. I knew that dinner tonight was going to be more awkward than usual. The food arrived shortly after and I picked up my eating utensil, eating the food slowly.

"So how was your day Michael," my dad asks emphasizing my name and remembering the argument we had yesterday.

"It was pleasant sir," I said faking a smile.
