Paul’s POV

I couldn’t be more ready for the tournament until I saw who I had to face first. I wasn’t scared and defiantly wasn’t worried but I couldn’t help but wonder why the man had a tattoo across his arm I swore I had seen before. Maybe I was imagining it.

I entered into the arena facing the middle age man. I guess I compared to him looked small, maybe even weak but everyone was about to be amazed. I am a lot stronger than most people think I would be.

He took the first move but I knocked his sword back with mine making him step back and I took my chance and slammed my sword against his shield before I tripped him up and put my sword to his throat. I backed away and the crowd went wild with excitement. I saw Merlin, Gaius and Gwen clapping and smiling over at me.

I left the arena and found Arthur heading out next. “Good job Paul you are a true swordsman,” he said as we shook hands.

“Thanks. Good luck,” I said to him.

“Thank you, Paul.” I watched as he walked into the arena and I decided to follow so I could watch his match. Arthur was up against a guy with two swords and a huge build but if Arthur found his weak spot he wouldn’t be too hard to beat.

I saw Merlin in the stands and he managed to spot me and waved. I waved back before the match begun. The guy charged at Arthur with the two swords but Arthur was quicker and managed to knock one of the swords out his hand. The guy raised his other sword and swung it at Arthur.

I took a deep breath in. To my relief Arthur managed to dodge the attack and caught the guy off guard. The man tumbled to the ground losing his sword and Arthur put his sword to the man’s throat. The arena burst into cheers and clapping, Arthur took the sword away and helped the man to his feet them shaking hands.

I didn’t know whether to believe if this guy was crap or Arthur was good but either way Arthur was going through to the next round which I had expected, of course. It is my turn next. I never get nervous that isn’t who I am. I know I’ll do just as good as Arthur or even better than him.

I went into the arena. I stood in the middle as my opponent walked into the arena and stood opposite me with a helmet on. I wonder if this be as easier as it was before. At first I didn’t notice but as he moved his feet I took him in more. I looked at his sword and that was what gave it away.

What the heck is he doing here? Why is he in the tournament? Has he lost his mind? Then again you could say I have lost my mind. This match is going to be interesting but I’m going to beat him, I always do. I have to carry on in this tournament.

“You can begin!” shouted Argravaine.

He came at me fast but I was on the ball defending him off every time he tried to attack some part of my body. “I thought you would be better them this...Troy,” I laughed.

Troy looked suddenly surprised, “Am I that easy to spot?” he asked me.

“Pretty much mate but don’t feel down about it,” I grinned beneath my helmet.

“I will win,” he said.

“We will see won’t we,” I snapped back. I saw this battle being even more interesting then I had first thought. Our swords connected both of us trying to push each other backwards but staying routed to one position.. When had Troy become so strong?

“Do I surprise you?” asked Troy forcing me backwards a little as I took my attention of him for a second.

“No not really. I’m just giving you a chance,” I laughed as I forced him backwards. I stepped back with my sword at the ready and my shield protecting a lot of my body.
