Merlin’s POV

When I left realising Paul had gone missing I went to search for him as I still wanted to speak to him about the man who had attacked. Paul being from the future I had no idea where to begin to search for him however I went to his room because that would have been where I would of went if I was in a mood with Arthur.

When I arrived I knocked on the door waiting for a response. As I walked away the door opened. “Oh it’s you Merlin,” said Paul.

“Yeah sorry to disturb you but I could tell you know at least something about the man who attacked,” I said to him. Paul looked at me, nodded and allowed me into his chamber.

We both sat down at the table before Paul spoke. “The man who attacked I swear I know but the only confusing bit is he is from my time,” said Paul staring right at me.

“Well if you can come here then couldn’t he too?” I asked him.

“That is true but Troy and I are the only ones with a time machine,” Paul explained quickly.

“What if that guy managed to use it,” said Merlin.

“That is impossible,” said Paul.

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“I’m pretty sure,” said Paul.

“He must have his own one then or something.”

“Could be possible,” said Paul.

“Do you think anyone else would attack?” I asked Paul.

“I don’t know to be honest but don’t worry I’ll stop anyone if they do,” said Paul.

“Yeah thanks,” I sighed.

“Is something wrong?” he asked me.

“No, I’m just thinking,” I smiled to him.

I walked across the courtyard it being very late. I had to clean Arthur’s armour and it took me ages to do. I saw a few knights heading my way along with Paul. “Merlin you shouldn’t be out,” Paul said standing in front of me.

“I know but I had to clean Arthur’s armour I’m going back to Gaius’s chamber now,” I said to him.

“Ok Merlin we better let you go then,” smiled Paul.

“Thanks I’ll see you later,” I smiled at him as I headed off. I went to head up the stairs towards Gaius’s chamber when I spotted something out the corner off my eye, a shadow. I considered ignoring it but I knew it seemed suspicious so I followed it. I turned around the corner and I was forced backwards off my feet in surprise.

I landed on the ground and I groaned a little as I tried to get back to my feet but something powerful was keeping me on the ground and I couldn’t move. Two figures approached me and they were both in dark clothing with their faces hidden by a hood.

“Oh well look who it is,” one of them said.

“Why it’s the great almighty Merlin,” laughed the other. I looked at them both wondering how they knew who I was. How did they know I’m a warlock? Why are they calling me mighty?

“What do you want?” I managed to ask struggling against whatever was forcing me on the ground and keeping me here.

“Now why would we tell you that,” one of them spat in my face as they kneeled in front of me. I stared back wondering what they were going to do to me. I can’t move but I don’t know why. It was like with that other guy who attacked he managed to stop my magic and now I can’t use my magic to escape this.

I tried to say a spell; I tried to do something but the man kneeling in front of me grabbed onto my hair staring me right in the face. “You’re magic is no match for ours little warlock. You can’t beat us no matter how much you try too,” he laughed.

“You seem so sure about that,” I said to him.

“Because we are,” said the other guy.

I shouted a spell and it seemed to work. It made them both be forced backwards and I managed to get to my feet. I thought I had a chance but as I went to say another spell my insides began to burn. My whole body seemed to give up and I collapsed to the floor screaming out in pain.

“You’re funeral Merlin,” he sneered at me as I continued to scream in pain. I began to cough violently until I coughed up blood.

“What are you doing?” I managed to ask once I stopped coughing trying to still use my magic. I had to stop them somehow. I fear these two guys are like that other guy and they are here to kill the king or Arthur but I have no idea why.

“Stop resisting you can’t win!” they shouted at me as I felt even more pain if that was even possible. I couldn’t move anymore. I couldn’t even try to struggle anymore I was in too much pain.

“I think the scream came from this way,” I heard Gwaine’s voice. The two men looked at me and sneered. “Maybe next time we’ll get to kill you,” they laughed before one of them whispered something before they both ran for it.

My eyes began to go bleary and I could barley think or know what was going on anymore. I saw people coming towards me and maybe vaguely hear them shouting but to me I hardly heard anything.

“What is wrong with him?” I managed to hear Gwaine ask.

“I don’t know. We must get him to Gaius straight away,” said Percival. I felt someone pick me up as my eyes closed and everything went blank.

Paul’s POV

I followed Gwaine, Elyan and Leon after Percival who was holding Merlin. We all burst into Gaius’s chamber. Gaius was laying out food but looked up in shock,” Merlin I wish you wouldn’t...what has happened?” he asked looking extremely worried.

“We don’t know Gaius,” said Percival.

“I think Merlin was attacked,” said Gwaine.

“Put him on my bed quickly,” said Gaius. Percival rushed over to the bed and put Merlin on it. Gaius placed his hand on Merlin’s forehead.

“What do you think is wrong?” asked Elyan.

“I need to check Merlin over and all you taking up the room aren’t going to allow me to do it. So if you can please leave and get on protecting the castle and someone go tell Arthur and Uther there has been another attack and this time someone has been extremely hurt then that would be most helpful,” said Gaius.

All the knights left but I stayed behind. “Gaius,” I said his name softly.

“Merlin explained to me earlier when I saw him in the corridor that you believe the man that attacked and you killed is from your time. This second attack do you believe they are from your time too?” asked Gaius.

“I fear they are,” I said to him.

“I’m going to check Merlin over but if so isn’t your time so much more advanced,” said Gaius.

“It is. Hopefully they haven’t done extreme damage,” I said to him.

“I hope so too but Merlin is burning up already. Merlin would have also used his magic so something stopped him using it or they over powered him, his magic didn’t help him stop them. If that is true I fear for Camelot and for Merlin,” said Gaius. I looked at Gaius before looking at Merlin as Gaius began to check him over.

Why would they have attacked Merlin? I’m going to have to find out. These attacks could keep on happening if I don’t stop these people who keep attacking because it’s lucky we found Merlin when we did or he could have been killed.
