Kelly and River showed up late but she quickly got to working. She was scrubbing down the bathroom sinks and Cruz walked in. "Hey. Is everything alright?" He asked her. "Yeah! I'm fine. Why do you ask?" She replied. "You're scrubbing the sink pretty hard." He said. She stopped and realised she was. "There was a...spot. It was hard to get off." She lied. He approached her closer. "You don't have to be afraid." He told her. "I am." She said and looked to him. "Who did what to you? I'll take him downtown Chicago. I know a guy who knows a place and his buddy's got some tools..." He said. She smiled and laughed a bit. "I have, um...some cops on it. A guy named Voight." She told him. "Oh! Him." He said. "Does everybody know who Voight is?" She asked. "Yeah. Pretty much." He replied. "Well, you're in good hands. The Intelligence Unit know what they're doing." He assured. "Glad to know." She replied. "Well, I'll...let you get back to it. Breathe easy. Okay?" He said. She gave a nod to him. "Thanks, Cruz." She said. "No problem." He told her before he left. He walked back in. "I came in here for a reason." He said. "Yeah, I thought." She replied and laughed a little. He went into a stall and she shook her head with a smile. A bit later, she was cleaning outside of Chief Boden's office. He went to his office door and opened it. "River, may I talk to you for a minute?" He asked her. "Absolutely Chief." She said and entered his office. "Have a seat." He said. She sat down in one of the chairs and he went around his desk then sat down in his chair.

"I spoke to Severide. He told me why you two were late. You had to talk to the cops." He said. "Yes. That is correct." She said. "Do you wanna tell me what that was all about?" He asked. "Well...last night, when I got home, my caretaker's boyfriend thought it best to...punish me. For being out late." She said. "Aren't you an adult?" He asked. "Yes. Yes I am." She replied. "Well that is just unacceptable. And you can spend as many nights here in the station as you want. I know it isn't exactly home, but...it's much better than being near that guy." He said. "Thank you Chief. But, Intelligence has a plan set. And we're going to get Mark put away for a very long time." She said. "I see. We have good ties with Intelligence. They are top of their game just like we are. You're in good hands then. And I am glad to hear it." He said. "Thank you. And, I'm almost overwhelmed by the love and care that I have received." She said. "You're family. And we will always care for you." He said. She smiled a bit. "I'll go...get back to work now." She said. "You do that." He replied and smiled. She stood and left his office. She cleaned for the rest of the day and waited until evening. Kelly stuck around too. So did Matt and Gabby. She looked at Matt and Gabby. "What? You two didn't have anything else to do? You know...couple stuff?" She asked. Kelly laughed. "Couple stuff, can wait." Gabby said. "You're important. And we're all a team. We wanna make sure you'll be okay through all of this." Matt said. "Thank you." She said. They all waited until it was time, then headed into the back of the CPD District 21 building. There was a cage to the left, weapons on a wall to the right and a table. She looked ahead to see two of the Detectives standing by an open area. She approached them. "I'm Detective Halstead, this is Detective Ruzek." Jay introduced. "Hey." Adam replied. "We're gonna hook you up with a microphone. It'll be hidden in your clothing. So he won't know." Jay said and showed her the camera. As he started to place it, Adam got her attention. "I think it's pretty fearless what you're doing. And, it's pretty awesome that you're willing to help the police." He said. "You guys work very hard. Not a lot of people see what you do and go through. But I know." She said. "You been stalking us?" Jay asked and looked at her confused and worried. "No! No I haven't!" She replied. "I'm just messing with ya." He said and laughed a bit. She gave his arm a gentle slap. "Halstead. He's always a jerk." Adam said. "That's not true." Jay said and stood upright. "There you go! All set." He added. "Now to wait a bit and go home." She said. "We'll be right on your street." Adam told her. She gave a nod and left with Kelly. Matt and Gabby were in Matt's truck and they parked down the street across from her house three cars down the block. Halstead and Lindsey were in a truck two cars down the opposite way. Voight, Atwater and Olinsky were in a van parked right next door. Ruzek and Burgess were in a car parked one car behind the van.

Everybody waited patiently until 11:00 pm hit. Kelly pulled onto the street and casually drove to her house and pulled in, in front of the van. She looked to Kelly. "I'm nervous." She said. "We're all right here this time." He said. "Right. Okay." She replied. She got out of the car and closed the door. As she walked up, he pulled away and left. She walked up and closed the door then hung up her coat. "I told you to stay away from him." Mark said as he walked towards her. She looked to him. "I have to!" She replied. He went to her and grabbed her hair again. "You're hurting me!" She said. "Why do you have to? Is he your pimp?! That's your job you little skank?!" He said and forced her towards the dining room table. "Please don't hurt me!" She pleaded. He placed her against the table. "Maybe I should teach you a lesson." He said. She could hear a belt buckle jingle and she looked to see him taking his belt out of his jeans. "Please! No!" She cried out. He pulled his belt out and snapped it like a whip. The front door burst open and Halstead, Voight and Atwater walked in with their guns aimed. "Drop it! Now!" Halstead hollered. "What is all the commotion?" The caretaker asked as she was standing on the stairs. "Ma'am. Stay where you are." Atwater nicely commanded. "I said NOW!" Halstead angrily demanded. Mark tossed the belt. "Step away from her." Voight said. He let go of her hair and walked towards them. "Get on your knees." Voight said and holstered his gun. Mark got down on his knees. River stood upright and watched. Voight walked up to Mark and grabbed his hair. "So you like to beat women. Huh?" He asked him. He let go of his hair and backhanded him. Mark fell to the floor. "Cuff him." Voight said. Atwater holstered his gun and took his handcuffs out then got over Mark and locked his wrists together. As he walked him out, Halstead holstered his gun and looked to River. "You did good." Voight said and went to her then held her in his arms. "I'm proud of you, kid. You helped us clean the streets." He said. She hugged him. "Any....time." She said. He let go of her and started to head out. "I'll take the microphone for you." Jay said and approached her. "I'm not gonna hurt you." He assured her. She gave a nod. Hank looked to her caretaker. "The next time you decide to get a boyfriend?" He said and paused for a moment. "Make sure he's good with kids." He said then walked out. Halstead followed him out and closed the door nicely. "Oh God. I am so sorry!" Her caretaker said and hurried to her. River held her and cried. That night her caretaker didn't leave her. The next day, she had off from work. So her and her caretaker went sight seeing. She thought she should at least show her the place she was raised in. And the both of them had a good time! In the evening, she showed her caretaker to Molly's. And introduced her to everybody. They both sat at a table and made a toast to friendship and clinked glasses and smiled then took a drink.
