All I could see was black. No colors, no light. Just blackness. It was kind of scary. I heard very slight murmuring in the background, knowing that Sans, Ciano, and Vikala were here.
Great.
I didn't want to deal with family drama at the moment. I didn't want to deal with whatever my father needed me for. I didn't want to deal with my mother trying to catch up on stuff she's missed.
Someone shook my shoulders to wake me up, but it failed. I tried to open my eyes, but nothing worked. Same with speaking. Maybe if they poured water on my face I would be able to wake up. But how could I tell them? I needed to think of a way.
"God damnit," I thought. "How the fuck am I going to get out of this? I can't let Sans and Ciano fight again."
Oh God. I needed to see how much one damaged the other. Sans could've hurt Ciano very badly. But Ciano could have done some serious damage too.
Oh God.
Oh God...
Oh God!!
I started panicking silently. I HAD to move. Somehow. But how? How was I going to move if I could barely breathe? I tried to open my eyes, and it surprisingly worked. I looked around the room, taking in my surroundings. Sans was talking to a nurse at the door of my parent's bedroom. Apparently, I was in the Master Bedroom's bed in the Great Palace.
I slightly moved my index-finger and gasped. Not out of surprise, but to get air. Sans quickly looked at me and sighed with relief. He practically ran to my side, and placed his hand on the side of my head. "Oh my God, Baby. What the Hell happened? Are you okay? Does your stomach hurt? Oh my Lord, I'm so God damned thankful you're awake."
So many questions. So many questions that I couldn't answer. All I could do was move my index-finger, look around, and breathe. He recognized that I couldn't talk and said "Oh.. I um... I'm sorry. I should've realized you wouldn't be fully back to normal the split second you woke up..."
I gave him a soft smile that made him tear up. Slowly and gently, I was able to lift my hand to his eyes and wipe the tears away. He kissed my palm, and my parents walked over to the other side of the bed. "Oh my God, Salanta. Are you okay? Move your finger twice if you are, only once if you're not."
I moved my finger twice.
"Move it twice if you're able to talk. Once if you're not."
I moved my finger once.
"Once if you can breathe easily, twice if you can't."
Again, I moved my finger once.
Ciano said "Enough questions. Let's just let her rest and come back later. Sans, the cooks are making dinner. You're welcome to dine with us, if you would like." Sans hesitated, then said "I'll join you in a few minutes.. I'm going to try to get Tesla to talk."
Ciano scowled. "It's 'Salanta', not 'Tesla'."
"'Tesla' is the English translation for 'Salanta'. I call her by her English name, like it or not."
Ciano only shrugged and took Vikala out of the room. Once he was gone, Sans said "Alright, Baby. If you REALLY can talk, start talking. If this is a joke, it's not funny." I glared at him, and he said "Move your finger three times if you really can't talk. Twice if you can, but only in murmurs. And once if you can talk clearly." I obeyed, moving my finger three times.
He sighed. "Alright, I guess you're really not lying. But can you kiss me? Like, can you kiss me back if I kiss you?" I mustered a smile, trying to say "Yes." So he leaned over and kissed me. Taking all I had, I managed to kiss him back, but very lightly. He smiled at my progress.
"We'll get you better in no time, I promise." He set a simple hotel-bell next to my hand and said "If you need anything, ring this bell. I'll come to you. I'll be downstairs, eating with your parents." He kissed my forehead and walked out of the room.
Sighing, I looked around the room again. I saw a gold and white tapestry on the wall. It had a golden sphere on it with wings, the symbol for Light. The rest of the fabric was white. Focusing on the design, I recognized the same symbol was on my father's left bicep, branded into his skin. One day, I'll have to get the same mark burnt into my left bicep.
I looked at the white curtains covering the windows. The fabric looked like silk. The floor had a golden plush carpet, that looked like it was made from the fur of a bear, and it was dyed gold. But it looked soft. The walls of the room were white with grey trims, and the windows were clear as crystal. It was a marvelous room, and everything was kept fresh and clean.
I was feeling a bit hungry, but I didn't want to bother Sans. He was eating with my parents, possibly having a good time. But if I rung the bell, maybe I'd be saving him from criticism from my parents...
I got the sudden hunger for pickles. I wanted pickles.
And I wanted them BADLY.
I bit my lip and tapped my finger on the bell, making it ring. It was a sharp but relaxing sound, that didn't bother my ears too much. Waiting a little longer, I rung it again. Why wasn't anybody coming? Had everybody left? Did Sans have to go fight Chara? What was the deal?
I rung it once more, and Sans came through the door. "Yes, my love?" he asked. I went to open my mouth, but no words came out.
Shit.
Sans said "Alright, I think I know a way we can do this. Are you hungry?"
I nodded.
"Move your finger once if you want sweet. Twice if you want salty. Three times if you want sour. Four times if you want bitter."
I moved my finger three times.
"Alright. Lemons?"
I shook my head.
"Sour candy?"
I shook my head again.
"Pickles?"
I nodded with a smile. He said "Alright. I'll be back with some pickles." He walked out the door, but popped his head back in. "Hey, uh.. heh.. The dill are the sour, right..?" I giggled and nodded.
He said "Haha, yeah.. I'm a dork.." He walked out, and I could hear him slap himself on the forehead while walking away. "I hope he hurries with those pickles..." I thought.
I stared at the white ceilings, noticing they were very plain, unlike everything else in my parent's bedroom. They had no design. Just a plain, white ceiling. I guess it wasn't that important, considering you wouldn't be paying very much attention to them when you were sleeping.
I sighed and looked at a pure white wooden door that lead to a balcony. It looked over the Tumank Mountains, on the South side of Kinisha. "Tumank" means "Beautiful" in Kinishan. The mountains were very beautiful. They had crystal clear streams and ponds, and magnificent magical creatures hidden inside them. Some peaceful, and some harmful. Obviously.
And at that moment, Sans walked in with my dill pickles on a silver platter. Literally.
