New Beginings

It was almost two years to the date since we came to Ithilien. We are finally done. It is truly beautiful here and the new trees are beginning to grow. I am sitting in our Gazebo waiting for my husband to return from a meeting with Aragorn and Faramir. I am leaning on the side of the ledge when I feel him come up behind me and wrap his arms around me and I feel so much happiness and peace. I realize that this is the gazebo from my dreams and the picture he drew all those years ago.

"Welcome home," I tell him.

"Thank you but I was only gone overnight. You seem rather happy. Some particular reason."

"Well I like having your arms around me and our baby." I hear him ponder my last statement than I feel his pulse quicken and he turns me to face him.

"Wait are you telling me you're pregnant?"

I smile and nod at him. He hugs me tight and spins me around. "Legolas please I am getting dizzy." He puts me down but I can see how happy he is.

"How long have you known?"

"Since yesterday."

"Did you tell anyone else?" He smirks at me, knowing full well I probably have.

"Only one."

He laughs, "Tauriel."

"Yes and she has probably told her husband by now. Since they got married last month they are so lovely together. Sickening really, where we like that."

"Still are"' I hear my brother say as he comes around the corner holding Tauriel's hand. "Sorry to interrupt but Tauriel told me your happy news and I wanted to congratulate you both."

"Well everyone, I do believe dinner should be ready and I am starving", Legolas announces.

The 3 of them head in. Haldir looks over at me, "are you coming?"

"Yes just give me one minute", I smile at him.

I am suddenly alone in the gazebo. I can say the past few years have been the best yet. I can see some of what our future holds. There will be mostly peace now, though there will be fighting over land, banding together of orcs and other battles mostly small some bigger. I head inside to the sounds of my husband, brother, sister in law and cousins, the people I call family celebrating my happy news. We might not always live happily ever after, but the point is that we will live as best we can.
