Chapter song: "You Belong to Me" Santo & Johnny-II MegiloA shrill beep is what awakes Samantha. Opening her eyes, she cranes her neck only to notice the school field is empty and the previous cheers of encouragement from students were no longer present. The sky above her is darker but the tall streetlights are not on, giving Samantha the impression it was around six in the evening.
Blinking a few times and wiping away any signs of sleep found in her eyes, she rises from the ground only for the same beep that woke her to repeat. Groggily the girl reaches down to grab her bag from the green overgrown grass and retrieves her phone to see that it was lit with a notification. Swiping her nimble thumb across the luminous screen her phone was unlocked and her messaging app was brought forth. The notification was for a text sent by the one and only Jughead Jones.
Jugbug: Hey, when should we meet to do that project? I'm free whenever and I'm at Pop's if u want to meet about it now.
Jugbug: Or if you just want to hang out in general. I'm at Pops.
Jugbug: ..you already knew that
Sam: hey juggie I can swing by pops
Sam: be there soon
Jugbug: I'll be here
Jugbug: you knew that already, sorry I'm gonna stop.
Sam: lol I'll see you soon broody
Sighing, the small blonde smiles to herself. Samantha finds her way out of the school yard and starts the short trek to Pop's. At the diner, the small golden bell that alerts employees of a new customer hangs over the entry. It rings as the heavy door is pushed open by a girl that seems to have trouble with the weight of door but she is assisted by the wind. The force of the breeze pushes the door open which relieves the girl of some struggle, and also sends a cool shiver down every body's spine affecting everyone with its cool fingertips and whispers that fly by their ears.
The breeze reaches a boy who sits isolated in a back booth which causes him to look up. Seeing the small blonde that he has become familiar with, an involuntary smile slips on his face.
"Sunshine, over here."
She heard his voice, the way it rolls like thunder and cracks like lightening over an ocean. It caused her head to snap in his direction and for her feet to start moving towards him.
"Hey there, shy guy." Samantha says while approaching his booth and eventually plops down on the seat across from the brunette and steals a fry off his half empty plate. "You ditching the dance too?"
