Staying at home wasn't a big deal for Ella, in fact, she didn't mind staying. One of the reasons why this was almost comparable to a vacation, was because she didn't have to go to her job, she didn't have many if any, friends she'd meet in person and most of all, she could do whatever she wanted.... limited to only staying home.

One of the activities she found herself doing the most was distracting herself with her phone, typical for her.

You see, she would have loved to have friends, go out with them, or perhaps even find a love interest just like the characters in the movies... however, being a runaway from someone as powerful as her family, she had grown some troubles and anxiety even having a stranger glancing at her. Her mind would always rush into 'What if my father sent them?'

Suddenly, Ella's time was cut off by her phone ringing...

Scrunching at the screen, her eyes examined the words...

Ellie is ringing...

Ellie wasn't someone Ella knew in person, in fact, she was an online friend that lived in the area (except Ella refused to share that fact with Ellie due to her own safety). Ella knew where she lived, but Ellie on the other hand didn't.

The only reason why Ella and Ellie had gotten close, was simply because Ella had received coincidental proof that Ellie had nothing to do with her family.

But of course, it could still be a trap.

Ella had answered the phone...

"Hello?"

"Hi Ella, you won't believe what just happened!" A voice squealed with a quietened tone.

Ella rose a brow, "Go on...?"

There was a gap of silence in the call... Ella could hear her friend only breathing down the microphone.

"Do you know Mort Rainey?" Her voice sounded quiet.

Ella's heart thundered.

"Y-Yes?"

A part of Ella knew where this was going.

"He's here..."
A whisper echoed from Ella's phone.

The world stopped...

"Ellie... you have to tell the police," Ella stated strictly.

She only heard her friend giggle...

"Ha, ha — no! Are you mad? This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me," Ellie replied with a scoff.

"But he's dangerous! You could die." Ella almost yelled. She had gotten up from her position and was now pacing the room.

However, her answer was silent.

But not for long...
