Chapter One

"Sky."

No, ignore him.

"Oh, skaa-ay."

The x could either equal minus two or-

"Sky!"

Or, it could be a minus... a minus thre-

"Skylynn! Sky, Sky, Sky, Sky-"

"Oh, frick. What is it, Hayes?!" I screamed at my brother, throwing the nearest pencil at him.

He stood against the door frame, his arms crossed and that usual annoying smirk on his face.

"Hi."

I looked at his face in complete anger. He had been calling me for exactly five minutes, he'd wasted about thirty seconds of my time that I could've used to study, and all he has to say is hi?

"You little-"

I stood up from my desk and ran up to him, watching him laugh and run down the stairs.

"You actually fell for it! Again!" he screamed, glancing behind to see if I was coming.

Oh, I was coming, alright.

He kept on running and I looked around for my weapon. There was nothing in the hallway so I ran to Dad's room, opening his draw and taking it out. With a devilish smile on my face, I ran out after Hayes and out the front door where he had gone.

With Dad's shoe in one hand, I used the other to shut the door in case my parents heard us fighting.

I would get him once and for all.

"Sky!" I jumped in fear and moved back to see Hayes at the end of the garden, waving his hands in the air like a child.

What was he, two?

"Oh, you're getting it this time you little prat!" I screamed, running with Dad's shoe in the air.

Hayes saw the shoe and widened his eyes in surprise, obviously scared because of the amount of bruises I'd given him with it the last time he'd tried 'the hi game'. This would be the last time he'd played that stupid game - if he got out alive.

"What the heck! You brought Dad's shoe? Haha!" He proceeded in laughing and running around the yard.

"Yes, and I'm going to freaking slaughter you with it!"

"You need something sharp to slaughter me, idiot!"

"Okay, I'll go get a knife."

I stopped chasing him and made my way towards the door.

He asked for it.

"What? No, are you crazy!?"

I ignored his annoying voice and went to the kitchen, opened the draw and took out the sharpest knife I could see. Running back outside, I saw that Hayes wasn't there.

The garden seemed so quiet and empty... something was up.

At that thought, I heard a chuckle and when I turned around to see who it was, my eyes automatically closed shut when the water hit my face and body.

"Hayes! Hayes, no! Stop it!" I screamed, waving both my hands in the air in order to stop the water from coming out of the hose. But I probably looked like a mad woman with one hand holding a shoe in the air and the other a massive knife.

"No! Not until you put your weapons down!"

"I'm younger than you! I should be allowed to have weapons!"
