Chapter Three

"Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up-"

"Hayes, shut your freaking mouth."

"Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake-" He shut up as soon as I threw my cushion at his face. He pretty much did this every morning. Sometimes I thought that maybe he woke up early just so that he could stand at my door and annoy the hell out of me. Hayes knew how cranky I was in the mornings so I figured he did it on purpose.

I watched him scream like a girl as I threw the rest of the cushions on my bed at him, before getting up and rushing to the bathroom. Hayes was still on the floor, clearly not being able to handle my attack; I was that good.

After we came back from the cafe the week before, I had done nothing but pester him about Cameron. I honestly thought he would play his role and obligation of being a truthful and loyal brother and tell me what he was hiding but it was the exact opposite.I tried to tell Hayes that he had been accused of being a criminal by Gen just so that I could see his reaction but he just told me to shut up about it. It was so weird seeing him like this, so secretive. We told each other everything. Like literally everything. He was the first person I went to when I had my first period cramp but then he felt awkward so when never brought up the dreadful topic of periods ever again.

I got in the shower and let the hot water fall onto my hair, the droplets dripping off my hair onto my back. I felt so calm but as soon as the door started banging it's way through the freaking wall, I opened my eyes and quickly washed out my shampoo.

With my towel being the only piece of garment covering my body, I opened the door as angrily as I could.

Hayes' hand was still mid-air as he was going to knock some more but I stopped him before he could.

"What is it, Hayes?!"

"Finally." He had a smug smile planted upon his face and before I could ask what was going on, he pulled me to my wardrobe and took out a baby pink dress that was printed with yellow and blue floral embroidery. I looked at it, dumbfounded.

"Do not tell me you have been knocking on my bathroom door like a lunatic just to show me a stupid dress. My stupid dress at that!" I shouted at him.

"Woah!" he interrupted. "Calm down, Sister. Someone's here to see you, so dress nicely or else I'll tell them to go."

"Who is it?" I asked, curiously.

"You'll see." He tapped my nose with his finger and left me to change.

I was so confused. The first thought that came to my mind was Cara. My best friend. Could it have been her? But then I was led to remember that Cara was in Australia on holiday and she couldn't be back so soon. Or maybe Jay, my brother's ex friend who had a crush on me way back and tried to ask me out on a date once he'd punched Hayes due to thinking that I was Hayes' girlfriend. Yeah that was an awkward experience, but it couldn't have been him downstairs. I hadn't seen Jay in more than two years.
