Cair Paravel

Standing a top the mountain

Glistening in the setting sun

Shining as a precious gem

Of the Narnian Kingdom!

Cair Paravel, capital of Narnia

City of the four thrones!

Wisdom, bravery and honor

Carved into every stone.

Built you were by finest craftsmen,

Set with all the fairest jewels;

You reflect the power and wonder,

Of the magic by which Narnia is ruled.

You have seen many battles,

You have fought many wars,

The blood of so many soldiers,

Upon you steps was poured.

You housed many great kings,

You fell into enemy rule;

You knew monarchs, generous and kind,

And evil, and horrid and cruel!

Through the pages of Narnia,

You shine time and again;

Yet you know that someday,

Your glory will come to an end.

You were built of stone and sand,

These things do not last forever;

And the time will come when not much,

Will remain of you beauty and splendor.

The things built by man,

Will one day ruin and crumble.

What was once a shining jewel,

Will be but dust and rubble.

Yet on the pages of history

You will be remembered

And in the hearts of all the lives

Which in your walls were sheltered.

For that is your true purpose,

Not to show off in glowing pride;

But to give security and protection

To the precious lives inside.

So stand Cair Paravel,

Stand to protect, to guard

The lives of the Narnians

Which to Aslan most precious are.

Standing a top the mountain

Glistening in the setting sun;

A fortress to all the brave and true

Of the Narnian Kingdom!

Loyalty, faith and freedom,

Carved into every stone;

In Cair Paravel, capital of Narnia

City of the four thrones.
