"Hell if I know man. Place gives me a weird vibe though." Fenix says, examining a light. "Smells like a dentists office." Nolan says. "Yeah. Which way should we go?" I ask, looking down both ends of the hallway. Looking at the floor, I notice a panel from the ceiling lies on the ground, once covering up the way we got in. "To the left looks like a curve, and there's a flickering light to the right and it looks like all the lights beyond that are off." Fenix says, pointing to the darker hallway. "Fuck flickering lights, haven't you ever seen a horror movie?" Nolan says, strolling down the left side. Fenix and I follow, and we round the curve. A thick door made of some kind of heavy acrylic stands at the end of a much shorter hall. Fenix tries to open it. "Locked." He says. I notice a spent rifle shell casing on the floor. Picking it up, I see that it is colored white, with a shiny red primer. I check the bottom. "5.56, seems to be custom made." I say. "That coloring is weird." Fenix says, and I hand it to him to examine. "I'll hang on to it." He says. I turn around to see the door open and Nolan gone. I step into the doorway, turning on my newly acquired Maglite. I notice this room is about 10 feet wide, about 40 feet long, and contains large vats of various colored liquids near the walls. I walk in, Fenix close behind me. I look into one of the fluid-filled vats, this one a dull pink, and see a strange egg-shaped creature with a single eye floating in the liquid. "The hell?" I think to myself. I approach the next, this one a bright greenish yellow. It's a doglike creature, with armor plates like an armadillo. "This some kind of genetic experiment?" I say. "Looks like it." Fenix replies. "Anyways, we need to find Nolan." I say. We start calling for him, and hear nothing. I walk to the end of the room, passing many tubes of strange hybrid creatures, some recognizable, others not. One in particular made me stop in my tracks. This vat contained a thick black substance that seemed to be churning. Looking closer, I notice the vat seems to have condensation in it, obscuring my view. I wipe it off with my gloved hand and feel that what I thought was condensation was actually a thick, sticky, clear substance that seeped through my gloves. It was oddly warm, and I worried if it was dangerous. Quickly I pull my gloves off and look at my hands. They seem to be unaffected, just a bit sweaty from the heat of the slime. I flick the substance off my hands and return to the vat. As I peer inside the now unobstructed glass panel, I feel a strong urge to open the vat. I question myself but can't seem to shake the feeling. I still can't see any creature inside the chamber, just the thick churning black substance. I notice warmth seems to emanate from it, which felt nice in the otherwise freezing room. "Hey man, you go ahead and look for Nolan, I'll be there in a minute." I say to Fenix, who gives me a questioning look, but shrugs and leaves through another doorway on the other end of the room. The urge to open the vat seems to take control of me and I lay all my gear and trenchcoat on a nearby table. As I look at the mechanisms holding the vat door closed, I notice a switch. I pull it and hear pressure release and a loud gurgle escape the vat. I see the top portion of the chamber seems to slide off. The whole chamber slides down about six inches, shaking the ground when it lands. "Woah..." I say. Suddenly hear smaller pressure releases and notice the clasps holding the chamber door closed sliding off. Suddenly the door opens, and a wave of black ooze rockets onto me, knocking me to the floor with its extreme weight. Looking down at the substance covering me, it seems to expand and contract almost like it's... Breathing?! I claw at it hopelessly, but it wraps around my hand, resisting my attempts at escape. In a fluid movement, it coils around me, like a constricting snake, and I can barely breathe. I attempt to stand, but I slip on the slick substance around my feet, hitting my head on the floor. I finally gather the strength to crawl to my feet, using the wall for support. I am immediately floored again by another, harder squeeze as the slime seems to grow, molding around me tighter. My head spins, and my vision blurs severely. My back throbs as I hit the ground, everything fading to black.

Fenix's point of view

I leave Sig to check out the black vat and I go to find Nolan. This room seems to be a surgery room, with various medical supplies and operating tables. Looking around, I notice two red eyes glaring at me from the corner of the room. I bring up my pistol, turning on the tactical light to get a better look. I don't get a very good look at it before it runs away, but it seems to be man size, slim, and possess large claws. "The hell could that be." I say. I feel the ground shake a bit. "What the?" I say. I turn to investigate and I'm tackled by whatever monster I saw earlier, and it attempts to press its claws into my chest. I grab it by the wrists, pulling to keep it from stabbing me. I roll on top of it and shoot it in the neck twice. For good measure, I pull my crowbar and smash in the creatures head. I slide against the wall, catching my breath. I chug some water and get up. "Nolan? You here?" I shout. Suddenly a door to my right opens making me jump in surprise. "You call for me?" Nolan says. "Fuck me... You scared the shit out of me. I just killed this mutant thing that tried to rip me to shreds" I say. "That thing's nasty looking. Let's not split up anymore eh?" "What about you, find anything interesting?" I ask him. "Looks like a surveillance room, but the main power's out, the one working monitor says the place is running on auxiliary and only in certain spots even then." Nolan says. "Found a pretty cool wrench though." He says, tossing me a large, hefty tool. I check it out. It's a V-shaped head on a thick rubber coated handle, all made of a heavy, polished white metal. "Interesting." I say, handing it back. "Where's Sig?" Nolan asks, resting the wrench on his shoulder. "Back a ways, he was looking at a vat." I say, checking my watch. 11:28, no orders. "Let's go find him." Nolan says. I lead him back to the containment room and see a huge black splotch on the floor, with a small trail on the wall. I walk over to the black spot, feeling it. It's thinly coated in a black liquid, somewhat slick, and warm to the touch. The vat stood empty, though stained black on the inside, and Sig was nowhere to be seen. "Where the hell did he go?" I ask myself. "Suppose we'll have to check the other end of the hall." I say. I notice the door is coated in the substance as well. I open it, revealing a trail of large black footprints, with streaks of the black substance between them. Sudden worry strikes me. "Shit... I hope he's ok. Nolan, double-time it, let's go."
