Alexander's P.O.V.

I watched Saphire while she was watching the fireworks. I had brought her to the city, on the roof of an apartment. A bit further away a hotel was shooting off fireworks, the light illuminating Saphire's face with pinks, greens, reds and blues.

Her hair was pulled back into a bun again like usual. I leaned forward and pulled on the ribbon that kept the curly strands together. Saphire turned towards me with wide eyes.

"It looks better when it's loose." I said.

She blushed and looked down. By now the fireworks had stopped.

"You promised to show me your face, remember?" Saphire whispered.

I stood up and pulled her along with me.

"I never promised when." I said.

"What?!" I pulled Saphire  with me into the stairwell. When we reached the bottom she pulled out of my grasp.

"You promised me Alex." She said, her voice barley above a whisper.

Goddes she really wanted to know.

I took a deep breath and walked towards the light switch. I hesitated before switching on the light and turning around.

Saphire's P.OV.

Alex was Alexander Jones.

Alexander Jones was a traitor.

And he was my mate.

My heart beat sped up. Why didn't I notice this before? We couldn't be mates. Could we? No, I couldn't do this to my parents. My voice was shaky.

"I Saphire Blue reject you Alexander Jon-"

He cut me off by pressing his lips against mine. Goddes his lips were soft, mine were automaticly moving in sync with his. When Alex pulled away I was left breathless. He smirked and I quickley shook my head to clear my thoughts.

"We can't be mates." I said.

"Why?"

"Because you're a traitor."

"Oh am I? Or do my loyalties just lie elsewere?"

When I didn't answer he smirked again and closed the gap in between is.

"I don't think you really want to reject me." He whispered.

I hated to admit that he was right.

I hid my face with my hands. What was I doing?

"Hey." Alex whispered removing my hands from my face and holding them in his.

"Do you know why I was banished?" He said.

I looked up into Alex's forest green eyes.

"You gave the Firestone pack confidential information about the Moonstone pack."

Alex shook his head.

"I didn't give the Firestone pack any information. But I did know something about the Bluemoon pack, something nobody but me and my older brother know."

Was he talking about Alpha Aden?

"What information?" I asked.

Again Alex shook his head and stepped back grimacing.

"Even if I told you you wouldn't believe me." He looked down at his shoes. "No one believed me..." he whispered.

I wanted Alex to tell me, but it didn't seem like he would. But if what he was saying was true then maybe he could join the pack again. Alpha Aden would understand right?

"Don't you have any way of proving it then? Maybe... maybe then you could come back to the pack..."

Alex looked up at me.

"You don't get it do you?" He asked, smiling softly.

"Saph, I don't want to go back. I belong in Firestone." He said holding my hands again.

A single tear rolled down my cheek and Alex wiped it away.

"How are we supposed to be together then?" I whispered.

"You could come with me, join the Firestone pack." Alex said.

I shook my head. "I don't belong there."

"How do you know? You've never been there."

I looked down but Alex lifted my head with his chin.

"Come with me, I'll show you what it's like there. Really it's not like you think."

"I- I can't. I'm sorry."

And then I ran. Down the stairs, out the doors and accross the street. All the way back home. I climbed into the tree that led to my roof and went inside. There I crawled into bed and cried myself to sleep.
