"My name is Lily Jones, and I am a painter. I paint as I see the world devoid of color." Axe stared at me raising one of his eyebrows before saying, "So can you like see color at all?"

"Simply put no, no, I cannot see color at all. I don't see green, blue, yellow, orange, purple, and the list of colors I cannot see goes on and on. No, I cannot see any color." I angrily told him. He gasped why I didn't know.

"WHAT?!"  He exclaimed. I twirled my finger at him and spoke.

"Um... yeah. I really can't see color. I don't find colors useful cause I honestly cannot see them. I wouldn't ever be able to match shirts on my own and don't get me started on the fact I only know what colors supposedly look like from my mom telling me. Like how would I know what a color truly looks like if I can't see it? That's why I paint as I know it- in black and white."

He looked pained for some reason.  Why I didn't know. He glanced around him all nervous like and placed his grubby right hand on my shoulder.

"Let me fix that. Let me teach you how to see colors in a different way. Let me bring color to you."

Now I was furious, pissed even. Who did this guy think he was? I absolutely hate, hate, hated when people tried to "show" me color. Like they really thought I could magically see colors all of a sudden. I proceeded to shove his hand off my shoulder and surprised myself by letting out a feral growl. I proceeded to give him a piece of my mind.

"Look, Max, errr... Axe or whatever your name is, I do NOT need to be shown what colors are or even told what they are for that matter. Quite frankly, I get way too much of that. So, no, I don't need you to bring color to me. I already know what colors are even if I can't see them. I just choose to paint as I know it in black and in white."

I stormed off leaving him in the dust of the crowds. As I was storming off from the clueless new kid the 1st bell rang; I ran into my friend Teryn Lynn.  I was dragging my feet into 1st-period Ceramics with Ms. Martinez when I ran into her.

"Hey, girl. What's up? Why do you look so pissed? "

I sighed, shrugging my shoulders. I did not really wish to talk about it much.

"Well? It's got to be somethin'. I saw you with a guy earlier.  Did he piss you off, or worse try to make you into something you are not? Cause' I can totally take care of him..."

"Nooo!!!"

I cut her off, surprising even myself.  Raising her eyebrows she replied, "Why did you scream no? Did he not try to make you see colors or what?"

I bit my lip, "Well, yes, he did, but he is cute I think. I really don't know why I said that no so boldly. I mean he did piss me off by saying he would bring color to me. But, but, he sounds cute when he's not trying to shove colors down my throat."

She smiled and looked me straight into my eyes with her light gray ones. I was told by others that her eyes were a light blue. I didn't care though as I can't see blue at all.

"Someone's in loooovvvveeeee. Lily and..."

"Axe," I supplied her.

"Lily and Axe sitting in a tree..."

Just then the 2nd bell rang signaling that my friend Teryn better get to class or else. Man, was she super annoying sometimes.

"I better get going to History class with Mrs. Patterson."

Teryn waved goodbye, and I waved back. I was glad when she left. I mean yeah she is a great friend, but sometimes she can get super annoying.   The 3rd bell rang as I got into my seat in the middle row of Mr. Myers Photography class. It was my 2nd favorite thing to do besides painting. I loved that in photography I could take pictures and show people how I see the world in black and white. And, not only that, but it reminded me of my dad.   The class went by fast as always.

The next class I had was Algebra 2A with Mr. Hillton in room 47. The next class was more than likely going to be the bane of my existence. I am horrible at mathematics, especially Algebra.

I went to sit in my usual seat in the way back of the classroom, but I was surprised to see that Axe was also sitting in the back. He waved at me briefly before he took out a piece of paper. He quickly wrote something on it, and when the teacher wasn't looking he passed the piece of paper towards me.

It read-
Do you wanna get to know me more?
Circle yes or no.

I dug through my backpack and grabbed my gray pencil with the black Roses on it. I quickly wrote him back another letter not bothering to answer his.

It read-
Why? To let you know I find it rude for you to press colors upon me when I just can't see them.

He then scribbled something else and handed it to me all crumbled up as soon as the teachers back was turned.

The crumbled up paper read-

I'm sorry I didn't know,  and if it's any condolence I just wanted to maybe share my poetry with you. I also maybe wanted to get to know you more to take you on an adventure to the places I got inspiration for my poetry from color.

I rolled my eyes at him. Sure he was cute, but I barely knew him. And he was annoyingly trying to brighten my life with color. What he didn't seem to realize was that my life was already bright and that I'm not some charity case.  I then nodded my head yes. I was regretting this already. This guy was so the opposite of me. He was good looking and a poet, and I was neither. Not only that but he was just plain rude. And, I was just a simple painter who painted in black and in white.

A/N: This chapter is now officially finished.  In the next chapter will Lily and Axe share their works of art, and when and will they ever go on an epic adventure?
