The Letter

Today a letter arrived in the mail. It was a rather simple letter but it only caused more issues.

It was from my father's attorney.

It told my mother that she was not allowed to keep me from seeing my father. And included a copy of the court agreement made in 2002.

My mom wasn't pleased when she received this letter.

She pulled me aside, away from my younger siblings and step-father. She talked to me.

"Do you think this is acceptable?"
She would ask me and I would just shake my head, too scared to disagree with her views.

She sent him a letter back from her own attorney. I don't know what is going to happen next. I don't know if I want to know what happens next. I just want everything to go back to normal. Flowers and rainbows and unicorns. Back to my childhood.

I just want to be a little kid who doesn't understand life again.

Why can't everything be simple?
