Oh well, she doesn't have time to worry about Wes when the scouts are coming back for day two of her recruitment. Yesterday when she talk to the scout, he was pleased with what he saw. Aspen walked downstairs and was greeted with a protein shake and her father wishing her luck. She nodded her head and headed over to the gym.
"Bartlett, today's all about you. I want you to give it your all. Also, the head coach for UCLA is here today." her coach informed her.
"Just what I needed today." she mumbled under her breath.
"Alright ladies, go to your beginning circuit and begin." Coach J shouted.
"Ok Aspen, you got this! This is your day to shine, nothing could ruin it." Aspen said to herself as she served the ball to her teammate across the net.
After two very intense hours of circuits and drills, it was time to actually start playing matches. For the next three hours Aspen gave it 110% and impressed not only herself but the UCLA coach as well.
"Ms. Bartlett, may I have a word with you?" The Coach hollered.
Aspen grabbed her towel and started wiping the sweat from her face as she walked over to him.
"Hello Ms. Bartlett, I'm Coach Adams. I am amazed at how skilled you are and would love to talk to you about joining our team." he took a long pause and continued, "I heard you were chosen for early admissions, is that correct?"
"Yes Sir, I graduate in December and will be starting UCLA in the Spring."
"Fantastic! Although our season will be over, I would love for you to be part of the team. You can join in during off season and hopefully be a started by next fall. How does that sound?"
"Words can not even describe how excited I am! I would love to join the team!"
"Great! With your skills, I think a full ride scholarship will be in order. I will contact the Athletic Director first thing tomorrow morning and see what we can do about a scholarship. We look forward to having you as part of the team. Have a great summer and we will be in contact."
Aspen couldn't even comprehend what just happened, she stood there in shock as her coach asked her question after question. Once she came to, she grabbed her belongings and went straight to the Angels stadium.
"Dad!!! You will never believe what happened..." Aspen froze and didn't move.
"Hello Aspen."
Aspen slowly started backing out of the door but her father stopped her.
"Just take a deep breath and calm down. How about you finish telling me what you're so happy about?"
"Why is she here? Isn't she suppose to be locked up in some fancy rehab place?"
"Aspen! Ignore the fact that she is here and tell me." her father order.
"It's whatever, I'm going home. I'll talk to you tonight at dinner. I need to go clear my head." she whispered.
"Have you heard from Wesley today?" he asked.
"Wait, what's going on between her and Wesley? I thought they were still together.
"Why does it matter to you mother, you haven't had much to say about our relationship except that thanks to him you got locked up. And no dad, I still haven't heard from him." Aspen's eyes started to fill with tears.
"Don't worry baby girl, he'll come around. I see you're still wearing the ring."
"Of course I am, but I'll see you later." Aspen wiped the tear falling down her cheek and ran to her car. As soon as she knew no one could see her, she let it all out. In between her emotional breakdown, she looked down at her phone and saw Keaton was calling.
