"Run you fucking bitch, run!" Jeremy yelled at the top of his lungs.
Danny was running as fast as his scrawny legs could. A look of horror spread across his face as he turned back to see the purser on his tail getting closer by the second. He was giving it all he got, but it wasn't enough as he collapsed out of breath a few feet from Jeremy who was safe behind the gate. If he could Jeremy would have ran out and dragged his friend to safety, but there was no time.
The purser pounced on Danny and began tearing into his flesh like a child opening up a present on Christmas morning. Jeremy could do nothing but hear the screams of pain coming from Danny echoing in the cold night air. As he watched his friend get bitten and torn apart Jeremy remembered at that moment how different everything was a few months ago.
Jeremy wasn't always the well-toned guy that he was the night Danny turned into one of them. He used be a fat teen locked up in his room on a Saturday night playing video games, hanging out with friends, and jerking off to Internet porn. It wasn't until it happened that he lost the weight and his friends. Amazing what running can do for your health when your life is on the line and could end at any moment.
At first the sickness came only in places no one really cared about or even paid attention too. People figured it's just one of those viruses that can get contracted from visiting foreign countries, but they were dead wrong. It spread faster then any disease imaginable attacking everyone and everything it came across.
When it hit North America that's when things went from bad to worse. Making its way up coast like a plague Jeremy was ignorant just like anyone else taking everything for granted until it blew up in everyone's face like an atom bomb.
No one really knew what do, not the doctors looking for a cure or even the government whose one damn job is to look out for everyone. How did they miss something so big like this? They didn't, all of them were too selfish and looked after themselves rather then everyone else. If Jeremy knew that when he walked out the door that morning that it was the last time he would see his mom and dad, tell them he loved them, and take the bus to school he would have tried to do some more with his life before the world came to an end.
Who would have thought that after everything the world has gone through it would be zombies that put an end to it. Kiss thousands of years of evolution behind to be brought back to the dark ages. Jeremy guessed it was as the old saying goes, shit happens.
Jeremy somehow survived all that happened in the events that led to civilization dying and surviving becoming the only thing that mattered in the new world order. Jeremy and his friends locked themselves up in the basement of his house waiting for help to arrive, but help never came. Just the screams and pain of the dying as more and more people become less human, and turned into something else.
The next few months become a blur. Moving from one place to another, each claiming salivation but ultimately bringing odeath knocking on its door for more innocent victims. How Jeremy's mind survived all the madness and carnage that flowed through the streets was a mystery even he couldn't answer. All he knew was that he had to keep sane and beat this nightmare. Maybe then he could go back to some kind of normalcy.
That night was supposed to be a simple run. Check out the market, get supplies, and head back. Easier said then done. Everything was fine until Danny got greedy and went back to get some more food. Big mistake.
The second he went back in they appeared, ready for tonight's meal. Danny rang the dinner bell and now there was only one option. Run.
Running as fast as he could Jeremy made to safety with ease. Danny was not so lucky, should have went for those runs like Greg told him too. But hey what can you do right, it's his life he can do what he wants. Short way to live dumb-ass now look where you are now.
Seeing his friend become one of them Jeremy had no choice but to end this. Picking up Danny's dropped pack he drew his gun, aimed the barrel at Danny's head, and let the bullet-hit home at the back of his skull.
