I decided I don't have the energy to get up yet so I just close my eyes and tried to fall back asleep.
I was way too awkward for this type of situation. He's going to wake up and cringe at the sight of me. I definitely didn't think of myself as the prettiest girl. Yeah, guys hit on me regularly, but not innocently. This was Harry, Harry Styles. I wasn't prepared for that type of embarrassment, so I very carefully freed myself from his grasp.
I tip-toed over to the kitchen and put a kettle on the stove to make some tea. Last night, Harry may have mentioned he preferred tea over coffee.
After it was finished, I decided I needed some fresh air. I couldn't help but admire how angelic Harry looked while he slept. The combination of his facial structure and the light from the sun rising was enough to make me blush. So, to avoid him waking up and seeing me, I did the first thing any normal girl would do in this situation.
I headed for the fire escape.
I went up to the roof, with my cup of tea and looked out at the New York skyline.
I don't know what it is lately, but I felt happier than I have in a very long time. I don't know if it is my new job, or my new life in general, but I loved starting over. Nothing from my past followed me here, and I liked it that way.
{HARRYS POV}
My eyes take their time focusing in the morning sunlight -- shining through the windows.
I can't help but smile when I see her laying on top of me. I'm not usually like this. I don't normally do this whole cuddle thing, just because I'm so awkward with girls. Sex was one thing, but any other form of affection was weird for me.
I stare at her beautiful features while she sleeps peacefully. I can feel her heart beat against my chest, gentle and steady. But, I know can't develop any feelings right now. She's a friend. That's it. Even if she was the fittest girl I've met, and made me more nervous than my first XFactor performance did. She was a friend.
I stayed up most of the night with her learning about her. Her likes and dislikes. What makes her happy and what bores her. She's quirky and funny, and I like that. She not fake or flirty like most of the girls that try to come on to me. Hayley didn't come onto me though. I tried to come into her, but chickened out. I tried to kiss her, but saw her stiffen and I couldn't go through with it. It was the strangest situation I've ever been in. Never has a girl made me as nervous as her.
All of my overthinking brought me back to sleep, once again.
••
When I wake up cold, my eyes flutter open and sit up immediately. Where was she? I stand up to look around her apartment which is one big room, if you don't count the secluded bathroom and the brick wall dividing her bed from everything else. Her bedroom is still not it's own room because it has no door, just a big archway.
When I see the window open by the fire escape, I poke my head out the window, and look up. Her apartment is on the top floor, and she wouldn't have climbed down to the street. I decide to head up to the roof. When I climb up, I see the back of Hayley leaning against the half-wall on the other side. I catch my eyes slowly going to somewhere they shouldn't and I feel heat erupt it my cheeks. I walk over to her and stand next to her, mimicking her position.
"Good Morning." she smiles her perfect white smile at me. Her eyes still puffy with exhaustion. I liked morning Hayley.
"Morning." I reply, looking over the cityscape. "I like it up here." I add, taking in the perfect setting.
"Me too." she says as she sips her tea out of her large red mug, never making eye-contact with me. "How did you sleep last night?" she asks awkwardly. She was clearly embarrassed about the whole cuddle thing. I didn't want her to be, because I wanted her to feel comfortable around me. I wanted her to know that I was just a normal person, despite my social status.
