A Rose Will Wilt

Fight.

Noroi had a dream about her dad. He held her hand and brought her to a flower garden. Noroi's mom came out of the corner and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Noroi smiled. Then Noroi's dad left into the garden. Noroi and her mom waited but he didn't come back. All Noroi could hear was her mom screaming at the top of her lungs. Then silence.
Noroi woke up screaming with Skyler standing over her.

"You alright? You are breathing heavy." He said as he sat by her side.

"I'm fine just a bad dream." She said.

"Could tell, you were screaming too. What about?"

"Nothing it was nothing."

"You know, once when I was very little I had a nightmare too. Mom came in and sang to me. She had a great voice. I still remember the tune." 

Skyler started to hum a tune. It calmed her. She didn't know why but Noroi felt like she had heard the song before. Skyler had a good singing voice, and assuming he got it from his mom, he always had one. Noroi could sing, but she never did due to the thought of being made fun of.

Noroi started to close her eyes again as it was still dark outside. As she started to do so Kami chimed in.

"We should get going..." Kami said from her corner.

"Its still dark outside." Whined Noroi.

"The sooner we get there the better." Kami said flying out of the cabin.

"You still haven't told me where we are going." Noroi said flying after her.

"We are going to the other side of that mountain." Said Kami facing the direction of it. It was more a hill then a mountain, but it was covered in trees.

"Why don't you just tell me where we are going? Like the name of it or-." Noroi was cut off by Kami flying away.

Noroi was steaming mad but left the cabin anyway. She had gotten a bit better at the balance thing so she payed more attention on scenery around her. The tress stretched for miles and miles on end. A beautiful array or greens forever in all directions. Except for down. A huge gouge had been taken from the earth. Kami stopped in the air directly over the canyon. Skyler met her along with Noroi. 

"We need to get as far from here as possible, okay..." Kami said hoping for Noroi not to object.

"Why?" Noroi objected.

"Because I said so...." She replied.

Kami started to the ground on the other side of the canyon. Noroi's face inflamed with rage. This entire trip she was never told what was happening, and she was done with it. Noroi wanted the truth of what was going on. She followed Kami down about to give her an ear full of grief. When they all were on the ground Noroi finally went off.

"WHY WON'T YOU TELL ME WHERE WE ARE GOING. I COME ALL THE WAY OUT HERE FOLLOWING A PERSON I'VE NEVER MET AND ALL YOU DO IS JUST SIT THERE AND TELL ME TO SHUT UP AND WATCH?!" Noroi said enraged.

"No, I'm just trying to protect you...because without me you can't protect yourself so I suggest you watch yourself before I leave you out here alone." Kami said calmly.

"I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF JUST FINE! I MADE IT THIS AGE ON MY OWN! TELL ME WHY WE ARE HERE OR ELSE!!"

"Whoa both of you calm down. There's no reason to fight." Skyler said backing into a tree.

Noroi pulled out her sword then through her backpack on the ground. Skyler scrambled to pick it up. 

"You do not want to fight me Noroi, you will lose." Kami said with a slight smile on her face.

"Try me." She said back.

"That's some big talk for someone that doesn't know how to use that sword. And for someone that I could kill in a slight move of my hand...."

Noroi didn't get mad often. And when she did it didn't last long. She had always felt that getting angry was pointless. 

Noroi held the sword in front of her shaking. Kami raised her had and the blade flew from Noroi's hand to the ground.  

Kami when into the forest alone. Skyler was sat by a tree stump clutching Noroi's backpack. Noroi felt dumb for trying to fight someone when she can barley make a sandwich right. Noroi fell on her knees. She put her hands on her face.

"God I'm so dumb..how far did I think that would take me...stupid...it's best you just shut up and listen..." Noroi whispered to herself. Just loud enough for Skyler to hear.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"I'm fine. Just confused."

"Why?"

"I want to know where we are going...but I have to realize that if she won't tell me then I should just not talk...it's best when I don't...it keeps me out of trouble..." She said.

"Have you always thought that?"

"Ya..."

"I know why we are here...but I don't know if you want to know...I'm also not supposed to tell you..."

Noroi got up off the ground the walked over to Skyler. She grabbed the sword, that was now a dagger, and placed it in the backpack that Skyler was still hugging.

"Please tell me please...." Noroi pleaded .

"I'm not supposed to... But.." Skyler looked around and not seeing Kami he scooted closer to Noroi. "So, we need to get away from this place to somewhere safe. Where nobody will find either of us."

"Why?"

"Because if he finds you, or me, bad things will happen.."

"Who is he...?"

"Do you really need to know..."

"Yes.."

"It's...." 

Right as Skyler started to say the words Kami came back soaking wet. 

"It's your father Noroi...he's trying to kill you." She said calmly.
