It was my first day and I was already late. I was in this very uncomfortable uniform that made me want to set myself on fire. Being an exchange student from the U.S I was used to wearing whatever the hell I wanted to but my host family explained to me that it was important I wore one. But hey atleast the colors are nice.
Before I went into my first class I hurried to the bathroom. My host family, which consists of David and Mary Williams and their son Henry who happens to be my age, had me put my hair in a side bun so I would look professional. I took a look in the mirror and sighed as I carefully undid the very tight and irritating bun. I ran my fingers through my dark brown hair trying to fix it the best I could. I took out my schedule and looked at my first class, it was Mr.Harris in room 2103.
It didn't take me long to find the class. I stood outside the door for 5 minutes trying to stay calm. I was nervous and literally freaking out. I took my last and final deep breath and slowly opened the classroom door and walked in. Everyone's eyes turned to look at me, shit.
"May I help you?" the man who I'm guessing is Mr.Harris asked. I nodded and handed him the note the office told me I was supposed to give my teachers to sign. He read it slowly then quickly signed it. "Everyone, this is our new exchange student, Violet.." Mr.Harris announced to the class. "Does anyone have any questions for her before we continue?"
I pray to God no one has a question.
"Actually I do." a boy said making the class snicker.
Mr.Harris rolled his eyes, "What is it Louis?"
Louis smiled at me, "What country are you 'exchanged' from? China?" he asked obviously noticing my asian ethnicity but I was in fact not Chinese at all. The class laughed causing something inside me to click.
"Actually I'm from the country that won the Revolutionary war which was led by George Washington who also happens," I say digging in my bag pulling out U.S dollar. "to be on the dollar bill. Now if you still don't know what country I'm from, it's the U.S."
The class literally went silent. Fuck Violet, now everyone hates you.
"Ha! You totally desrved that Lou." the curly haired boy that sat beside Louis laughed causing the rest of the class to awkwardly join in.
Mr.Harris smiled at me, "You can take a seat now." he said before going back to the board to finish writing something.
I awkwardly looked around but the only seat left was in the back of the class. As I got closer I could see a boy was sitting there. He had his head down staring out the window. I pulled the chair out and sat down placing my bag on the desk. The boy next to didn't move a muscle he almost seemed dead.
I sat in class trying not to fall asleep but I could probably get away with it since I was all the way in the back. I heard the seat beside me shift causing me to look over at the boy beside me. He sat up straight and stretched. His hair was messy and he had a 5 o'clock shadow. He had his uniform sleeves rolled up exposing a couple of his tattoos. He was actually quite attractive for a guy who-.
'I'm Zayn." he smirked interrupting my thoughts. Fuck, I was staring too long. "Violet, right?"
I nodded, "Yeah sadly." I mumbled looking down at the desk.
"Why's that?" he chuckled. Jesus Christ his voice is fucking beautiful.
"I'm pretty sure everyone hates me after that whole 'im from the country that won the Revolutionary war' thing." I answered mocking myself. I looked up to see Zayn staring back at me causing me to blush.
He shrugged, "Who cares if they hate you. I'm pretty sure this class hates me too." he smiled making me feel better. "We can be the two in the back of the class that everyone hates."
"Yeah, we'll be the two weirdos in the back." I joked.
"You know, you don't have to sit here if you don't want to." he muttered running his fingers through his hair.
I smiled, "No it's fine. I'm pretty sure you're the only person who even wants to sit by me."
"Well then looks like I finally have someone to talk to in this class." Zayn grinned leaning back on his chair.
The bell rang before I could say anything else. Everyone got out of their seats and headed out the door. I took out my schedule again to check my next class.
"I guess I'll see you around, Violet." he said picking up his backpack and swinging it over his shoulder.
I nodded, "Bye, Zayn." I waved as he headed out the class.
"Same thing tomorrow," he said stopping and turning back to face me. "Back of the class."
