1977
After the boys odd departure from the common room, the three girls had been on edge. They weren't sure what the boys were up to, but they had a feeling it was no good. It also occurred to them that they had yet to complete a welcome back prank and, due to it being their seventh and final year, not to mention they had the grandeur of the previous year's prank to compete with, the girls knew it was going to be something big.
"I don't like all this waiting." Marlene stated one morning as she lazily towel dried her hair in the girls dorm.
Lily, who was sat at one of the dressing tables running the length of the farthest wall from the door, turned to face Marlene as she contemplated her words.
"I don't trust any of them. Not one single stinking Marauder. They're planning something big and evil and I want no part in it." Aurora's voice drifted into the dorm from the girls bathroom, her words slightly muffled as her mouth was still full of foaming toothpaste.
The girls spent the next half an hour discussing the endless possibilities as they got ready for the day ahead. None of them, however, were quite expecting what awaited them as they descended the stairs towards the common room.
The first thing that caught their eyes was a large toboggan situated on the landing outside their door. It was large enough for three to sit comfortably. The three girls all stared sceptically at each other, deciding whether or not they trusted it.
A low rumble from a little further up the staircase captured their attention, finally distracting them from their internal struggle over whether or not to touch the toboggan. Soon enough they had no choice however as a large wave of snow erupted out of nowhere and began hurtling towards them. All three girls let out startled screams and jumped onto the toboggan just in time to be swept up in the avalanche that was to carry them down to the common room.
When the avalanche reached the bottom of the staircase finally, all three girls skidded to a halt in the middle of the common room, knocking over a side table in the process and startling the already frazzled and confused people milling about. Still somewhat in shock, it took them a moment to realise that it was snowing inside. A thick blanket of white coated every surface in the room and a blizzard seemed to be swirling around them.
"Oh no," Lily breathed, knowing all too well who was behind the indoor blizzard. She also knew exactly where the idea had come from. She had unwittingly become an accessory to a Marauders prank and if they went down, she went down with them. They'd really outdone themselves this time.
Once the initial shock and awe of the snow had set in, the three girls noticed three neat little hand written notes, each labelled with their names. Each note said the same thing more or less; each girl was instructed to grab their winter cloaks, as well as gloves a scarf and hat so as not to catch a cold in the unseasonal winter wonderland. The three of them all glanced at the chaos left behind by the avalanche and groaned at the fact that they now had to wade through waist deep snow in order to climb the stairs.
After all three girls finally managed to get up the stairs, they rummaged around in their trunks to locate their winter attire. When they were finally dressed and ready, the three girls then opened their door to find that all the snow from before had disappeared. They glanced at each other in confusion until a familiar rumbling began and they all stared wide eyes at each other as a second wave of snow carried them down the stairs.
"I'm going to kill them." Marlene seethed through gritted teeth as the girls dusted themselves off for the second time that morning.
"Is it going to do that every time-" Lily was cut off by a low rumble, followed by yet another wave of snow, this time carrying some very confused third year girls down the stairs.
