I groaned again. Brain freeze. Such a pain in the ..head.

See I wasn't your typical teen. Ice cream was not comfort food! It was to be cherished and left for good times. I didn't eat it often either so that when I did, I'd devour it with a new hunger.

Right now I was drinking ice cold water. It actually had ice blocks which I was chewing out of frustration. I was weird sometimes.

Somehow, in my mind, I thought the icy water would neutralise the cold, rejected and humiliated feelings that were repeatedly crushing me.

As dramatic as it sounded I felt lonely. Like I had little to smile about left. The so-called 'best friend' I was supposed to confide in was a total prick and the cause of my little dilemma. A-hole...

My phone disturbed my current self-loathing episode. I chose a ringtone I hated so that I'd always be quick to answer calls. Boy was that stupid. The annoying bell tune was annoying.

It was an unknown number. Not the time for this. Honestly if it's a prank call about my refrigerator running I'm going to hunt someone's balls down. My mood was obviously sour and I felt like killing something. Killing a certain someone...

"Hello." My vice came out hoarse from drowning in teenage-drama type of sorrow. I cleared my throat and asked with a little more confidence, "Who is this?"

"Nick Humphrey. Is this Kara?" The voice on the other end of the line quizzed.

A small smile graced my face.

"Yep, it's me. What's up?" I asked.

"Hoping it isn't too soon, I was wondering is you'd take me up on my offer to go out...tonight. I mean like on a friendship basis of course if you'd prefer." He said hesitantly.

I laughed softly, "Friendship basis if I'd prefer? As in my intentions friendly and yours different?" I mused.

He groaned, "I'm not good at this and you're relishing in my misery on purpose. Yes or no?" He tried to sound stern but failed miserably.

I laughed, "What time and what should I wear?"

"How about lacey lingerie and I'll bring the wine?" He joked in a fake seductive voice.

I fake giggled, "Really? What could we possibly do, we'd be bored and all alone in a big house?" I joked in an extra high-pitched voice.

There was a moment of silence before we both started laughing.

"Wear a jacket and comfy shoes." He said between chuckles. "7 p.m. at Momma Stella's House of Food" He said before hanging up.

I had two hours left so I went to go watch TV in the mean time. A familiar car engine purred outside. It was the sound of my car. I was confused. I was supposed to collect it on Fri-

Oh. It was Friday.

I'd been so focused on moping about life that I'd completely forgotten my car. I was supposed to collect it so that could only mean-

"Hey Kara!" A cheery voice greeted as the a-hole entered my humble home.

The devil's brother had just arrived.

"Hey Jace." I said trying to seem indifferent about his presence but failed miserably.

"So you're not any better." He commented on the obvious. "You've been out of it lately. Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked acting clueless.

I narrowed my eyes at him and gritted my teeth. "No." I stated bitterly.

"Well I got your car for you. Thought you'd forget. Which you did." He said smiling. Trying to act like we were happy and normal. Dickwad.

"How are you getting home?" I asked.

"I loaded my bike in the back of your truck." He said casually, walking towards me.

"Well you can get going." I bit out in a low voice.

He clearly got the message that I wasn't appreciating his pretending-like-All-Is-Well and that I wanted him gone. His facial expression faltered for a split second before going back to the norm.

"I'm actually staying here for the night. So get cosy." He smiled.

I was beyond angry. Pissed. He was acting like everything was normal. A-hole.

"I'm going out so you can go home." I said with a small smug smile.

This time he looked angry and didn't hide it. "With whom are you going out?" He almost snarled.

"It shouldn't concern you Jace. You should just be happy that you have me off of your back." I replied cooly.

I got up from the couch. "I'll go get ready." With that, I left for my bedroom.

Nick was seated on a table for two. It was a table set against the wall. The little food parlor had cream walls and vintage brown and red interior. It was considerably spacious and cosy.

I approached Nick. His back was faced to the entrance so I came up from behind him. He was sipping on water.

"Hey." I said smiling.

He grinned, "Hello Kara. You actually came." He beamed.

"Of course. Did you order anything or do you have any suggestions for me? I haven't been here before." I said, looking around.

"I didn't know what you'd like but I suggest you try 'Momma's Suprise' though. It's delicious." He commented.

Once we ordered our food and drinks we received a suprised visit from you know who!
