Chapter 23 - The Finale

A/N You may have noticed I gave this chapter a title - unlike the rest - ; consider it a special one ;)

Third Person

The trio run, the lab collapsing behind them. Their footsteps echo in between the sounds of beams falling and screams from above. "Come on, this way!" Glitchy yells, the other two nodding as they follow the small scanner. Jake's back bleeds slightly, but ignores it as he continues to run forward, grabbing Jane and putting her over his shoulder. He jumps to the side, narrowly dodging a piece of the ceiling. He then grabs the scanner, breathing fast. She smiles, hugging the shadows neck as he runs forward towards the stairs. Sirens blare into his ears as he begins to make his way to the door. He runs out, gasping at the site of WHU cars outside. 

"Well well well, they ran to us~" The trio hear the familiar voice say. They all think the same thing - It's Nicholas. Jake puts Jane on the ground and Glitchy on her shoulder. "You know we ain't givin' out without a fight!" Jake yells, punching some of the guards into the floor. He grabs a handgun off of one of them, sighing.

His eye flares red, the orange fading away. "Here we are now~" He says, his soul becoming visible slightly. Pink. "Wait, what the-" Nicholas questions, beginning to run away. She remembers something. Something she wants to forget. She leaves the trio, the rest of the group she brought following. She tries to shake the memory away, but she can't.

"M-Mum!" A voice yelled, and Nicholas glanced at it. She couldn't move. She was paralyzed with fear. "Alice!" She yelled, before hearing a man chuckle. The sound of a pistol being loaded sent a shiver down her spine. "Your daughter really shouldn't of come along~" It said. "She wasn't meant to come! I-I didn't even know!" She screamed, a familiar music box playing. A gun shot rung in her ears, and the body of Alice fell in front of Nic, blood flowing out of the wound in her head. "Y-YOU MONSTER!" She yelled, running at the being to run right into a wall and knocking herself out.

She glances around, glad it was just a memory. She glances back at the lab, which is crumbling, and the three figures running.

She will get her revenge.

Well, here's the last chapter of Book One! I'll post an update when Chapter 1 of Hunted - Which is Book Two - is out! But until then, I shall publish the first chapter of a deeper story; a story of reunion, a story of hunting...
