Double Dog Dare (part 6)

"Castiel, how many demons did you kill today?" Micheal ask with a serious face.

"63 sir." Castiel replies obediently, his broad shoulders high, his firm chest and back straightened, and head held high with respect toward the Archangel.

Michael smiles proudly and stands. "I expected nothing less of my favorite soldier."

Michael eyes Castiel with a glint in his eyes. The angel that stands before him has come far, he first arrived here a scrawny boy begging for a demon to save him, but now stands a strong soldier with a hard face, ready and fit to kill at command.

Michael has created the perfect weapon, and he knows just who to use it on.

Dean does what he has done every night since Castiel's death. He drowns his sorrows with the help of a whiskey bottle. The bar staff and previous customers lie dead at his feet, his doing of course. Only now he doesn't enjoy the kill, he only kills when he can't stand the self hate anymore, and imagines it could be his life he's ending.

But the Mark of Cain won't allow that, so instead he sharpens his knife for others, and he takes another drink from the bottle.

Sam is worried for his brother, the demon is always frowning. Dean blames himself for Castiel's death, saying he should have been there to protect him, or given him the mark sooner. It doesn't seem to matter how many times Sam tells Dean that it couldn't have been stopped, Dean never listens. He never smiles. He never laughs.

Sam remembers the night Castiel was killed, Dean came home with empty red rimmed eyes, covered in blood. His hands wouldn't stop shaking, and he just kept muttering "No, he can't be. Not my angel."

Sam found out later that Dean had slaughtered an entire town a few states over.

Dean never stopped frowning afterward.

Gabriel stares at the house with narrow eyes, watching for any movement. He became a hunter a few months after his little cousin was abducted. Cassie's room had stunk of Sulfur.

Gabriel, after three years of looking, had no choice but to assume his baby cousin dead. Now he is a hunter, trying to track down the demon who killed his cousin.

And just last night he got not only a lead, but a name. Dean.

Gabriel grits his teeth at the name. Dean. Cassie's first kiss. Dean the one who had Cassie covered in hickeys nearly everyday. Dean the demon.

He's as good as dead as far as Gabriel is concerned.

Gabriel slowly approaches the bar he saw the demon walk into. The demon is Mr. Winchester, Castiel's teacher. No wonder Cassie never said anything, he was probably terrified.

Gabriel's heart yurks at the thought of his baby cousin, scared and crying. Cassie was ways so fragile... And Dean killed him. Gabriel's knuckles turn white.

It didn't take long for Gabriel to scout out the house and discover two demons living there. Dean, and another demon, a tall demon with shaggy hair, and broad shoulders. If it weren't for the black eyes Gabriel would have found himself attracted to him.

As soon as Gabriel enters the bar he scans the room. Only three people are in the bar, the bartender, a woman who looks to be pasted out, and Dean. As soon as Gabriel's eyes fall on Dean, he is seething. In the three years that Cassie has been dead Dean hasn't aged a bit, although he does look like sh¡t. Dean seems to be completely lost in thought, a hard frown on his face. He doesn't even notice when Gabriel plops down in the seat beside him. For a long moment all Gabriel does is stare at him, he studies his face, memorizing every last detail of the man who murdered his cousin. The demon seems different than before. Gabriel remembers him having an air of confidence to him, a cocky smirk, and a "go to Hell" attitude. Now he has bags under his eyes, although Gabe isn't sure why, he knows demons don't sleep. His hair is messy, almost as if he hasn't been bothered to fix it, and the once confident air around him has now turned cold and bitter.
