Arthit

Arthit was thinking about what Bright had said.  Was he really jealous when he saw Knott pay attention to someone else who wasn't him?  He never really noticed if Knott did treat him differently.  They had to be teasing him.  Arthit was just asking Knott what happened, that's all...  What did the first year look like?  He hadn't seen the kid's face clearly.  How had he managed to get Knott's attention?

When he returned to the room, Knott was already in the shower.  Arthit was tired, but he was more stressed than tired.  Arthit wanted to go out and maybe get something to eat.  He waited for Knott to come out.

"Ai Knott, do you want to go get something to eat?  Arthit asked as soon as he saw Knott was done.

"Not now Arthit, I'm tired, and I still have a lot of homework to do."

"Oh come on!  I'm tired too... let's eat something, and I will help you with your homework."

Knott looked at his face.  Arthit knew he won that round yet again.

"Fine... give me five minutes."

They went to their regular restaurant when they were both too lazy to cook.  It was a little further away from the dorm, but since Knott had a bike, it wasn't a problem.

"Ai Knott... let's get this larger portion and share it!  That's cheaper."

"Share it?  You... want to share?  Since when?  You know I can eat the whole thing too right?"

"I'm broke... if we share it's cheaper than the price of the regular one."

"You wanted to eat out when you can't even afford it?"

"That's why I said let's share!"

"But I don't want to share!"

Arthit pouted, he was hungry and craved good food.  Life was hard, and food was the only comfort he had.

"You know Arthit, I hate you!  Just get two large portions, and I will pay for it."

"Khun Knott... I will forever be your servant."

Knott scoffed, "Yeah... right."

"Shall I get a cheesecake for dessert?  You can leave the crust for me as usual, and we can have the dessert part covered too!  It's a win-win situation."

Knott

It wasn't a win-win situation?  Knott hated cheesecake, absolutely hated it.  The only reason he ate it was Arthit.

[Flashback]

It was their second year, and since they were roommates, they often went out to eat together.  They had covered every restaurant within the vicinity.

One Saturday afternoon they had been bored out of their minds, so they decided to take a walk.  Arthit was dying for his usual pink milk, then again when wasn't he?  So they went to the cafe.

Arthit was scanning through the menu when his eyes lit up.

"Knott they have cheesecake!  Have you had it before?"

"No, I don't even know what that is."

"Oh, it's heaven on a plate, you have to try it!"

"Ai Arthit... I don't like..."

"Just try it!  You will get addicted.  For me, the crust is the best part.  I love it!"

Arthit was almost jumping on his seat.  Knott couldn't help but smile at the excitement.  He wanted to see what the fuss was about.  Knott didn't like sweet things, but he ordered it anyway.

Knott took a bite from the pretty looking piece of cake.  He wanted to throw up, it was too sweet.  But Arthit was watching him closely, waiting for his reaction.  Knott didn't have the heart to say he hated it, so he smiled instead.

"So how is it?  Do you like it?" Arthit asked excitedly.

"Yeah, it's delicious, but I don't like the crust.  Do you want it?  I will just eat the top part."

"You don't like the crust?  But that's what makes a cheesecake better!  Well if you are going to offer it to me, I am not going to complain. Of course, I want it!"

The waitress had come over to ask if everything was fine.

"Baby... do you want a sip from my pink milk?" Arthit was suddenly smiling at him.  Baby?  Knott was beyond confused, but they had an understanding.  When either of them was acting weird, the other just went with it.

"Uh... yeah... sure."

Arthit offered his drink looking at the waitress with his eyebrow raised.

"Oh... I will leave you, gentlemen.  Please let me know if you need something, excuse me," she left blushing.

"Ai Arthit!  What the hell was that about?"

"She was flirting with you!  Didn't you notice?"

"She was just doing her job!"

"She had only been talking to you since we got here.  And asking you if everything was alright.  I was watching her.  She didn't even go to any other customers."

"Okay, so what's wrong if she was flirting with me?  You didn't have to ruin it for me."

"Ai Knott... if you find someone now, I won't have anyone to go out to eat with.  And I'm not ready to share you yet.  Sorry man, but I can't let that happen. Besides, she isn't even that pretty," Arthit casually said sipping his drink.

"You can't just sabotage my life like that for selfish reasons you fucker."

" Yes, I can, and I just did."

Knott kicked Arthit under the table.  Secretly his heart was soaring.

"So for how long are you going to keep ruining my chances of getting a partner?" Knott asked.

Arthit pretended to think for a while.

"Let's make a deal.  We won't date anyone until the other finds someone too."

"What the hell... No!!  You want me to be single for the rest of my life?  Forget it.  I'm not going to shake on that."

"You don't have a choice, Knott."

"I thought we were friends Arthit.  You are worse than an enemy."

"I love you too baby."

"Shut up!  You are making me throw up," Knott could feel butterflies in his stomach.  He was happy Arthit needed him enough to chase away the people who were interested in him.

From that day onwards whenever they went to any cafe, Arthit would order cheesecake for both of them.  Arthit knew his coffee order by heart.  Knott knew he could have just told Arthit he hated it.  But Arthit would beam with happiness whenever he left the crust for him and now it had gotten to a point where it was mandatory.  Knott loved seeing Arthit happy, so each time he would force himself to swallow the sweet treat he hated with a passion.

Knott was in too deep, he knew his heart would eventually be broken.  But he held onto the little happiness he had for now.
