Arthit

Arthit had been looking for the gang for lunch when he saw them speaking to a freshman.  Even from afar he could see Knott laugh and tap his shoulder in a friendly manner.  Knott was not really a scary person to his friends, but after becoming a hazer, he has been maintaining a straight face among the freshmen.

Arthit sped up wanting to get a good look at the person who was getting chummy with his friend.  He walked right in between Knott and the first year, facing the latter.

The boy was handsome, he observed dryly.

"Who the hell are you?" he asked him in his head hazer voice.

"P' Arthit, I'm Tew."

"What's your business here?"

"Ai Arthit, I asked them to select a representative.  He just came to introduce himself.  I told him he can report to you."

Arthit looked at Knott suspiciously. It still didn't explain why he was overly friendly.  Wait, was this...

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind. You can go now N' Tew."

Knott was back to concentrating on his food.  Arthit waited until Tew was out of earshot.

"Since when are you nice to the freshmen?  It's the hazing season, we can't let them relax just yet," Arthit told Knott.

"Oh come on.  He was asking about his responsibilities and seemed like he was forced into it.  You of all people know how that feels.  So, I just told him it's not hard and not to worry.  Hurry up and get your food.  I will wait until you are done," Knott answered casually.

"Was that the same first year you let off the hook the last time?" Arthit was not in the mood to let go yet.

"Yes, it was!  I was wondering why he looked familiar," Bright had answered before Knott.  "Wow Knott, did he bribe you?"

"Ai Bright, I'm not like you," Knott hit the back of Bright's head playfully.

"Is he related to you?" Arthit asked again.

"What?  Ai Arthit, I really have no idea why you are still on this.  I don't have time for your nonsense.  If you aren't going to eat, then I'm leaving."  Knott stood up and looked at the others annoyed.  "Anyone coming?"

Prem stood up nodding, "I'll come with you, I have class."

Arthit slumped on to the seat opposite Bright.

"What's up with him?  I was just asking why he was too friendly with that freshmen.  It's not good for our image" he said to the other two.

Bright shrugged.

Toota was watching him curiously with a smirk on his face.

"Ai Bright is nice to all the freshmen.  It's true that he has hidden intentions, but you never seem to mind him.  Why is this bothering you?" Toota asked.

"I'm not bothered.  I'm just not used to seeing Knott behave this way."

"Well, we are used to it.  Knott treats YOU that way all the time."

"He treats you all the same way too!"

Bright looked at Toota, "Ai Toota when was the last time Knott offered you a piece of gum?"

Toota stared at Bright looking mildly surprised.  "Knott has offered you gum?"

Bright looked at Arthit with a winning smile

"See?  It's just you.  By the way, Arthit do you think he would have treated me like that if I had gotten to him first?"

"What are you guys getting at?"

"Knott is allowed to have other friends Arthit," Toota said with a serious face that made Arthit uncomfortable.

Was that what it looked like? That he didn't want Knott to have other friends?  Did he really not like seeing Knott being overly friendly with others?

"What are you going to do when he gets a partner. Chase them away with a broomstick?" Bright asked him.

Arthit gulped remembering the times he had sabotaged girls from approaching Knott.  Sometimes he hadn't even passed the letters girls had asked him to give to Knott.  Arthit didn't want Knott to abandon him.  Besides the girls weren't that impressive and he thought his friend deserved better.  Seems like he wasn't a good wingman after all.

Knott

Knott was angry, Arthit had gotten to his nerves.  He knew Arthit was possessive of him.  Arthit wasn't a person who shared, but this was ridiculous.  How was he supposed to suppress his feelings for Arthit at this rate?  Knott knew Arthit would never like him more than just a friend.  If Arthit did like him something would have happened by now.

It was his fault, he was playing a dangerous game.  Knott had no right to be angry.

Knott felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Are you alright?" Prem asked him quietly.

"Yeah... Arthit is driving me crazy."

"Ai Knott... can I ask you something?"

"what is it?"

"Why do you think Arthit gets jealous?"

"Arthit is not jealous, he just wants to be at the center of attention.  You know how he is."

Prem sighed, "If you say so."

"What do you mean?"

"Nothing..."

Arthit had done it again getting himself involved with Kongpob.  This time it was a bet.

Knott was starting to wonder if this freshman had other intentions.  There was a length anyone would go to challenge a senior, especially the head hazer.  Knott didn't like Kongpob for sure.  Kongpob was trying too hard to get Arthit's attention, and it was suspicious to Knott.  He wasn't exactly surprised when he heard Arthit had made a bet.  Arthit was easy to manipulate, and Kongpob seemed to have a few tricks up his sleeve.

"Why did you agree to it?  You don't know what he will demand if you lose!" he had asked Arthit.

"He was irritating me as usual, and I lost my mind."

"I don't think he will be able to pull it off," Knott said thoughtfully.

"Don't underestimate him," Arthit mumbled, but Knott heard him anyway.

"If you know he might win, I really don't understand why you agreed."

"Now he will try harder, and it's good for the faculty."

Arthit had a point, but Knott didn't believe him.
