Chapter 11 – Leave.

“Koby, you can’t do that, you can’t just skip that out” I heard someone yell at Koby, I instantly recognised it as Adam’s voice.

“You don’t understand Adam, what am I meant to say? I don’t know, I made a promise and I have to keep it. But I just don't know what to say” Koby yelled back.

“The truth, you tell her the truth Koby. Please, you know it needs to be said” Adam spoke just loud enough for me to hear. I heard the slam of a door and I walked down the stairs fully to see what had happened.

“Koby?” I asked, he looked up with a worried expression.

“How much of that did you hear?” He asked.

“From where he told you not to skip out” I replied truthfully.

“Im sorry you had to hear that” He replied and I shrugged. There was a bit of silence and the question was practically eating me alive. But before I could ask the question, Koby shot one out.

“When were you going to tell me about the meeting with the two guys?” He asked and my body froze. I knew that he knew about it, but was I really ready for this question?

“I” I couldn’t get words out.

“You were scared?” He asked and I nodded.

“I don't want you to be scared of me, im your brother” He said. He thought I was scared of him.

“No Koby, im not scared of you” I exclaimed.

“Then what are you scared of”

“Im scared of what you would say, im scared of everything, I don't want to be a part of all this gang stuff, but I know im slowly going to get involved” I cried.

“You think I want you involved?” He asked. “If you are spotted with anyone again and we use the same excuse, they aren’t going to believe us a second time”  

“What do you expect me to do then Koby, go in isolation? Run away?” I asked throwing my hands everywhere.

“That’s exactly what you need to do” Koby said looking down.

“what?” I asked.

“You need to leave, until it dies down” He sadly said.

“You are making me leave?” I asked offended.

“Not forever April”

“Koby, I haven’t left your side since I was born and now you expect me to leave everything?” I cried. I couldn’t leave.

“April, I don't want this, but im trying to keep you safe, James, Rory and Zayn will all go with you and I will always talk to you” He yelled.

“I refuse to leave until I get answers Koby and that’s final. I need to know everything” I said.

“And you will, before you go, I will tell you everything” he whispered.

“What if something happens to you while im away? How long will I be away for?” I whispered back, on the verge of tears.

“Nothing will happen to me and just until it dies down” He said. But what if something did happen? What if he was shot?

“I just need to go for a walk” I said.

“Be back before dark” He called out as I shut the door. I sighed as soon as I got out of the door. I looked on the doorstep seeing my NIKE’s. I had my phone, headphones and I was wearing clothes well enough for a run. The weather was cold, but it wasn't raining so it was good enough for a run.
