Chapter 21 – Nerds can swim.

Daniel Hayes, a person I had never heard of. Adam has been like an older brother to me since I was born, and it never occurred to me that he had an older brother, he never spoke about him ever. Maybe there was a reason for that, but I don't know.

I didn’t want to ask anything, so I left it, but I stole my glances of Adam, he had a hard expression on his face, He obviously didn't want to talk about it, but he knew he would have to. Koby already knew, because he wasn't shocked at all.

We got to a big building and I immediately knew that this was their hide out. Koby, Zayn, Adam and I jumped out and we saw Matt, Liam, James and Rory. Matt made eye contact with me but I looked away from him.

We walked into the building, not a single word said, I walked next to Rory and she gave me a small smile, you could tell she had cried sometime today. I felt bad for her, she didn't want to be dragged into all this, but falling for James brought her everything, but you can’t help who you fall for. I guess she may or may not have been brought into it with Matt and Liam being the cousins.

“What is this place?” Rory asked looking around, she knew that it was the hide out, but other than that, we were clueless.

“I have no idea” I said. I said looking around myself. I didn't know the location; I hadn’t really been paying much attention. But this was where Koby came before he came home. I knew it, I don't know how, but I could feel it in my bones that this was the place.

It was nothing special just buildings with a big garage for all the cars, so that no one from the rival gang would recognize the cars.

“Let’s go April” Koby yelled at me, I looked at him. His jaw was clenched, the bruise on his cheekbone standing out. I made sure I walked faster to him, because I knew he was pissed off about me being here. I looked back to see if Rory was still there, but she must have walked off with James.

“What are you doing here?” Koby hissed once I was walking next to him. I pretended not to hear him, when he went to say it again, he was interrupted by someone. Matt.

“Can I talk to you April?” Matt said, I looked at him and back to Koby. I nodded and he pulled me into a corner. I didn't want to make eye contact with him, because I knew I would just be hurt. But I did look up, and I saw all the bruises over his face, he had the worse face out of everyone.

“What happened to your face?” I asked and he looked at me.

“Umm well” He couldn’t find words, I rolled my eyes. He was stuttering, he didn't want to tell me. We waited a few minutes in silence, he didn't reply to my question.

“Im sorry, I didn't want to hurt you” He said and I looked at him.

“Did you even like me Matt?” I asked.

“Of course I did April, I liked you from the minute I found you running away from Koby but I couldn’t do that to Zayn” He said.

“But Matt, you just practically gave up your girlfriend because your best friend wants her, I don't find that intelligent” I replied. He looked down for a second before looking back up at me.

“But you like him back” he said and I started coughing.

“No I don’t” I shook my head at the thought.

“I can see it, you guys are together, you may not see it, but I know that this is for the good, I still want to be friends with you though and who knows, I’ll go find someone else, because you and Zayn, you were meant to be, I can see it” He said before walking away. He looked back and sent a wink my way.
