Chapter 1 – Ice Cream and Dorks.

“Come on Koby, I just want ice cream” I whined to my older brother.

“No”

“Please”

“No”

“You’re so mean” I said sitting down on the lounge next to him. He smiled and poked his tongue out. I rolled my eyes.

“Let’s go” He said.

“Go where?” I asked.

“To get Ice cream” He said in a duh tone. I rolled my eyes. “If you keep doing that they will get stuck there” So I rolled my eyes again.

Let me Explain my life. My name is April Harrison and I am 17 years old. I have quite long brown hair which hasn’t got a set style to it and I have brown eyes aswell. I live with my older brother Koby who is 23. He has short brown hair and a sleeve tattoo up his right arm. You see our Parents died 5 years ago but since my brother was 18 I stayed with him. Well our life isn’t that easy. We live in Bradford. Im finishing on my last year of school and Koby is well kind of in a gang. Not kind of in the gang, the leader of the gang. Yeah. He never tells me where he is going; who he is with or anything but I know that he is with the gang.  I have only ever met one of his friends. Adam, he is the same age as my brother and is like my other brother aswell.

“Alright just hold on” I said sliding on my converse. I grabbed my phone and was ready.

“Adam is going to be there aswell by the way” He said and I nodded.

“Surprise, surprise” I muttered with a smirk.

We got to the ice cream parlour and saw Adam standing there. He had short honey blonde hair with a sleeve tattoo similar to Koby’s.

“Hey Dork” He said to me.

“Hey Slut” I said to him. We always call each other these names and we don't even know why. Just our thing. Koby and Adam did their little man hug thing and started talking.

“Hey guys” They turned to me. “Talk inside, I want ice cream” I said and they rolled their eyes at me. They walked in and Koby handed me some money.

“Hey April” The worker said to me. I smiled at him.

“Hi” I don't even know his name. Awkward much. I ordered a vanilla for Adam, A chocolate for Koby and a peanut butter caramel one for me. Yeah don't judge. After paying I walked back to see the two boys just standing with their arms crossed. They gave me stern looks so I sat down across from them. I handed them their ice creams and started eating my ice cream.

“Ok, why are you both looking at me like I killed someone?” I asked.

“Who was the guy working?” Koby asked. This is why they are angry? Yeah they are both over protective.

“And don’t lie” Adam added.

“I swear on my life I do not know that guy, I don't even know his name” I said and they both nodded. I smiled and they did the same back. We sat at the parlour for a while. Me scrolling through face book and the two boys deep in a conversation. All that there was on face book at the moment were fights, parties and half nude photos. Sluts.

“You ready to go?” Koby asked and I nodded at him. He smiled.

“Yeah, you got to go study you dork” Adam said. I slapped him in the shoulder. We all said our goodbyes to him before Koby and I walked back to our house.

“You’re going out tonight” It was meant to sound like a question but I knew the answer to it.

“You don't understand April, I have to do it” I just nodded not wanting to talk about it.

“What time are you leaving?” I asked.

“About 5” He said and I looked at the time. 4:50pm.

“Don't worry then” I said before jogging up to my room. I could hear him following me.

“April” He said sitting on the end of my bed.

“What?” I asked walking over to my desk. I took out my studying books.

“What did you need?” He asked.

“Nothing, I needed nothing. Have fun bye” I said sitting on my chair. I started studying. I heard Koby sigh and then walk out. About two minutes later I heard the door slam shut. I sighed. I just wish he wouldn’t go out so much. We are really close as brother and sister; well we kind of have to be. I just don't want to see him hurt because well, I have no one else.
