Chapter 4: Another death

It was later in the evening, and everyone was eating dinner together. Kaiya was sitting with her food, watching as Satchiko was playing with the kitten she had named Cinder. The ginger girl couldn't help but smile how cute her girlfriend was being, running around the room with a ribbon for the cat to chase.

Kaiya looked up as Ichiro approached her table and sat beside her. She hadn't talked to the cyclist much before so it surprised her a bit.

"Hey Kaiya... I've been wanting to ask you, how'd you and Satchiko even get together?" Ichiro asked, looking curious.

Kaiya blushed a bit at the memory. "Well, I had a huge crush on her, so one day I just gathered my courage and asked her out... but I kinda had to explain I meant it as a date and not as friends." She laughed a bit. "It was a little awkward, but she said yes anyways."

Ichiro just nodded a bit. "That's nice... you two are pretty cute together."

"Thanks..." Kaiya smiled, staring over at Satchiko.

"I'll uh... see you around." Ichiro said before he got up and walked away.

The strawberry blonde came bouncing over, Cinder trailing behind her. She sat next to Kaiya with a smile. "You gonna finish that?" She asked, looking at her girlfriend's food.

Kaiya laughed a bit, pushing her plate towards the lucky student. "I'm full, you can have it."

Satchiko grinned before eating the food, and Cinder jumped into Kaiya's lap, wanting attention.

The nighttime announcement had just played, and Kaiya was sitting on her bed petting the purring grey cat beside her. The ultimate cat lady was surprised at the knocking on her door, but got up to answer it, opening it to see Satchiko standing there. She looked pale, and as soon as the door was open she stumbled into Kaiya.

"Satchiko? What's wrong?" Kaiya asked worriedly, bringing her into the room and closing the door. The two sat on the bed together, and Satchiko cuddled close to the freckled girl.

"I-I don't... f-feel so good..." Satchiko muttered, and just then Kaiya noticed how she was struggling for breath.

Kaiya wrapped her arms around her girlfriend. "What happened...?"

Satchiko looked down. "I-I dunno... poison, maybe?" She coughed, and Kaiya looked down to see a bit of blood come with it.

The orange haired girl started to panic, holding Satchiko closer. "N-no! You're gonna be okay, just hang in there, Satchiko! W-we can fix this, maybe there's some medicine somewhere... or... or...."

Satchiko shook her head. "I-I just wanna be with you now... Kaiya..." she coughed again. "I wish I could tell you who d-did this, but... I dunno..."

Kaiya couldn't stop the tears from pouring down her cheeks as she hugged her dying girlfriend close. "S-Satchiko, don't go! I-I need you... I love you..."

"I-I love you too..." tears streamed down Satchiko's face as well. "I-I'm sure you'll find out who d-did this... j-just... please survive...."

"I-I'll do my best..." Kaiya muttered. She held Satchiko close until she eventually grew still.
