"I'M STRONG AND I'M SURE THERE'S A FIRE IN US
SWEET LOVE, SO PURE"

. . .

"I'm not saying that being strong isn't a good thing- it's just easier to outsmart a bulkhead than to fight them, obviously." Clara said proving a point to her older brother. Emmett had a look of disappointment etched across his pale face. He twisted towards the girl angrily, his face set in a smug smile.

"I could kick your ass-" the vampire boasted, crossing his arms stubbornly. "Right babe?"

Poor Rosalie put her arms up in surrender and pushed her long legs ahead of her husband, towards Alice and Jasper. Clara nudged Emmett cockily and mouthed told you so. Emmett grinned and threw Clara over his shoulder, any other time Clara would've used her strength to shove him away. But the school parking lot wasn't a good idea with so many students around. Emmett quietly put her down when their siblings gave them a warning look. It was too much attention.

Attention amongst the Cullen's was dangerous. Everyone at Forks loved to gossip about them and so the less they did to impress everyone, the less they were talked about. "I'm still really upset that you guys had a snow fight without me- so unfair." Clara whined, pouting dramatically, glaring at the snow beneath her feet.

"Maybe don't miss school next time pipsqueak." Emmett shrugged.

"Oh please- he cheated anyways Clara. He used a little more strength than any human would have, he likes to show off." Rosalie muttered, winking at her mate.

Clara's plump lips turned into a grin. "Cheater."

"You're supposed to be on my side." Emmett sulked, his lip sticking out. His dimples made him look less dangerous but boy this vampire could do some damage.

Only a few moments after Emmett's statement, the squealing of tires caught The Cullen's attention. It was Tyler Crowley's van, no surprise there. His van was old, Clara was surprised it was somehow still running. The van looked to be sliding across the ice dangerously. It was out of control and heading straight for Isabella Swan's truck. It was a moment of horror, they were to far to do anything, it would be to obvious for any of the Cullen's to stop it. They could for sure, they were fast enough and strong enough but not with all the humans around.

"Edward-" Rosalie hissed, attempting to stop the vampire from saving Bella. But it was too late. The van had been stopped and Bella had been saved.

And Edward was right in the middle of it all.

Love had always been something extremely magical but untouchable to Clara. She had her fair share of men throughout her long life but all seemed to end badly. It wasn't like she was completely against the idea of it- She was used to the idea of love, she did live with all of her siblings who all found their soulmates. But it was something she thought she was cursed to never feel- like maybe god or whoever was up there, decided Clara had done too many shitty things in her lifetime to deserve such a wonderful thing. Maybe she was too selfish, or maybe just dull. But after Charles, the man she thought she loved had ruined her entire life, she was a bit weary at the thought of Paul.
