"Josh. What are you doing in here with that thing?" Debby asks.
Why is she here?
"I have a name you know." I state.
She looks over to me, "Whatever."
Josh mouths a sorry as she drags him out of the tent. Why is she so overprotective? Are they dating? They can't be. Can they? Debby comes back and her head pops into the tent.
"Stay away from him. He's mine. Not yours. Mine."
With that, she runs back to wherever. I look down at the necklace Josh gave me. The drums and Polaroid go together like peanut butter and ranch. They don't belong together. Their two different things. Not at all alike to each other.
I step out of the tent and look over to Brittney, "I'm going out for a walk."
She nods and I walk out of the lobby. The cold air fills my lungs as I walk along the paved sidewalk. I focus on each step I take and soon start to count.
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
"Hey! Jennifer? Is that you?!" A male voice shouts out.
I look up to see Jacob Evans. The jock star and popular guy at our school. What is he doing here? How does he even know my name?
"Hey?"
He walks up to me, "Are you here for the Twenty One Pilots concert too?"
"Yeah..."
"Cool!"
"Yup."
Just leave me alone dude. I was having some me time until you just came running along here. Go away! I want to tell him to leave but that would be rude. Now it's just awkward. I don't know what to say and he obviously doesn't either.
"So..." I say.
"You look good today." He compliments.
I look down at my outfit. I'm basically wearing black ripped jeans and a grey hoodie.
"Thanks," I say.
"No problem." He winks and walks off.
I've never seen myself as Jacob's type. I mean look at him. He's super fit. He's the star quarterback on our football team. Look at me. Some dork in the crowd. Doesn't stand out at all. I watch him as he walks off.
"Hey Jennifer!" Tyler walks over to me and I jump out of my thoughts.
"Hey Tyler!"
"Who was that?" He looks over to Jacob standing outside of the lobby. By now, tons of fans have shown up. They all turn their heads to Tyler.
"Let's go talk elsewhere. I don't want to get attacked by fans right now."
I nod and we run to the back entrance of the theater. He opens he door with his card and we step inside.
"So, as I was saying, who was that dude?" Tyler asks.
"He's just a guy from my school."
