Ethan:

It had been a week of volunteering at the SPCA and it was great. Some days Paige would come with, some days she wouldn't, and some days she would come but be very distant with me.

I decided to find out what was up with her.

"Paige!" I yell catching up to her in the hallway.
"Yeah?"
"Why are you acting so distant with me. Did I do something?"
"No, just family problems." She says.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" I ask.
"Not really. You know I gotta get to class. Also can you tell Marie I can't volunteer anymore?"
"Yeah sure,"
"And, you don't need to finish the list." She says.
"What? Why?" I say nervously.
"There's no point," she replies.
"Paige! Come on, I wanna be with you!" I yell.

People in the hallway were beginning to look at us.

"Ethan stop, people are starring."
"I'm not going to stop. I care about you Paige. I want us to get back together, now tell em what is wrong?"
"I gotta go." She says walking off.

I grab her hand and pull her into me.

"Paige, please tell me." I say looking into her eyes.

She huffs. "Fine!"

Paige pulls me into an empty classroom and puts her binders on a desk.

"My parents are getting a divorce." She says.

I was not expecting that. Whenever I went over, her parents seemed so happy.

"Why? They never showed that they were fighting."
"I know, she replied.
"Now tell me why you don't want me to finish the list."
"Ethan. There's no point. I really like you, but with my parents and everything. I'm just getting stressed out even more and thinking about you and I getting back together stresses me out even more." She explains. "I care about you, but I just can't think about us right now."
"Paige-"
"I have to get to class E, I'll... I'll talk to you later." She says walking off.

I felt like a part of me was leaving. I was still going to finish this list though.

After school was finished I went over to the SPCA. I took a few of the dogs for a little walk and also cleaned out the kennels.

I went back home and took a look at the list. I still had quite a few tasks. One that was probably easy was just to get a new passport photo. She never specified if I had to have the new passport in my hand for it to count, I just had to get it taken.

"Hey G," I say walking into his room.
"What's up?"
"Paige's parents are getting divorced."
"What!?"
"I know, she told me at school today. She's really upset about it. She even told me that she doesn't want me to finish the list." I explain.
"Really? Man. That sucks."
"I'm still going to finish it though, even if she won't take me back."
