"Why can't you do anything right? You failed! How do you expect me to tell this to all those people who'll ask me about your grades?" His mother let out all her anger causing her son's heart to wince at the words. They clearly meant that she wanted her son to achieve high so she could tell the people of her circle about it without being ashamed in front of them and would not be left out, not because she actually wanted her son to succeed. He could be wrong but he will agree on it if only his mother told him otherwise.
"It's just one subject. You can tell them about the other ones. Plus I tried the best I could." He mumbled, still looking at the floor, not daring to look into his mother's eyes that were no less than sharp daggers.
"You are hopeless. I don't know what I did to deserve a child like you. You're good for nothing." She slammed the report card on his table and stormed out of his bedroom. Each word tearing his heart into pieces. That night he cried his heart out to sleep, like most of his nights.
That always was the reason Louis never came up to anyone's expectations. He needed support. Someone to push him forward because they became happy to see him progress, not someone to leave him hanging on a thin rope all alone and get told he couldn't do anything if he falls because the rope broke.
That was something he had to face ever since he was in grade fifth, when his high grades started to descend. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get as many A's as he used to get before. He knew his grades mattered a lot to his parents, and he also knew why. Or at least that was what he figured out by what he used to see and hear.
Year after year, nothing grew better for him. Everything just got worse. He never knew what he did to deserve something as that. All his self-confidence began to shatter, all the self esteem that he had began to evaporate. All he was left with was a feeling of being a waste of space. A disgrace.
When he was at the age of fifteen, doing his O Levels, that's when every inch of hope he had left with him broke by no one other than his own parents. That's what hurt him the most.
He knew if anyone would hear his story would think that he was being a drama queen because grades aren't something to cry on like he did, but in reality no one would understand his story. The reason something that seemed so simple to some random person was the only reason someone was breaking down at such a young age.
Depression, mental fatigue, emotionally unstable. By the names, they might seem easy to escape, but in reality require full attention and immediate precautions before it is too late and they lead to something massively harmful. And they all became a part of his life. And he was alone to deal with things dangerous things. And the reasons he couldn't achieve much.
His story was long and went way back, when his parents married to be precise. Sometimes he wished his parents never married, or he was never born, but every teenager thinks about that, right? But not everyone has the same reason to thinking that way.
Soon he was eighteen, the time he waited for a long while. He could move out, move away from the pain. But nothing became easy for him as he had expected. At the age of twenty two, he was quite settled with his life, even though it wasn't anyone's dream life. Having a job, a safe place to live, a fine pay to keep one person living.
Easy life, huh? That's what he thought too. Until his mind turned around and decided to take trips to his dreadful past, haunting him. And the last thing he wanted was to go through all of the trauma, that he had to deal with back then, all over again. Honestly, he had lost all of his strength and will to fight.
Afterall, his own parents did call him hopeless.
